It's been 69 years since Jackie Robinson broke down baseball's color barrier, making his major league debut in Brooklyn on April 15, 1947.
The Los Angeles Dodgers honored their legendary player and that storied day on Friday night at Chavez Ravine, welcoming his widow Rachel for special pregame ceremonies on Jackie Robinson Day.
The No. 42 was displayed behind second base, as well as on the backs of all the Dodgers and San Francisco Giants for the first game of their weekend series. A former Giants manager, Frank Robinson, who was the first African-American manager in the majors, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
