RBC Heritage 2016: Friday Leaderboard Scores and Highlights

Joe PantornoApr 15, 2016

The second round of the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina saw the No. 1 golfer in the world, Jason Day, end up in a three-way tie for the lead Friday.

Day shot a two-under 69 that featured four birdies and two bogeys to get to six under for the tournament.

But he has company, as Kevin Chappell and Charley Hoffman both shot three-under 68s to meet Day at the top spot.

Here is the leaderboard after the second round:

Day took advantage of the front nine with two birdies on the first three holes thanks to some solid putting, via the PGA Tour:

After a bogey on No. 5, he answered with a birdie on No. 6, as the PGA Tour showed:

Looking to build a healthy lead, Day stayed aggressive with some ambitious shots, such as this one on No. 9, via the PGA Tour:

But Day could only par his final three holes of the day.

Much like Day, Chappell had a busy front nine with three birdies on the first four holes. His approach game was on point in that stretch, as he was able to create short, manageable putts.

Of his three birdie putts, the longest one came from just 12 feet away.

After starting on the back nine with three birdies in four holes, Hoffman fell behind the leaders with bogeys on Nos. 15 and 18, but his turn to the front nine did wonders, as he birdied Nos. 2 and 8 to finish strong.

The three co-leaders may have to look over their shoulders for the remainder of the tournament, though, as seven other golfers are within two strokes of the lead.

With one slip-up, a player's shot at a win could go down the drain, as the course is putting up some solid scoring conditions. If the tournament comes down to the wire and Day is still in it, though, it would be hard to choose against the No. 1 golfer in the world.
