WWE WrestleMania 2016 Results: Most Memorable Moments from Massive PPV

Erik BeastonApr 5, 2016

Sunday's WrestleMania was a show full of awe-inspiring moments, matches and performances that will live forever in the annals of WWE and add to the legacies of some of sports entertainment's greatest stars.

Yet, only a select few moments will stand the test of time as the most memorable from this year's Showcase of the Immortals.

From death-defying leaps of faith to emotional championship victories, theatrical entrances to legendary returns, the event was every bit as grand, spectacular and unforgettable as the hype suggested.

But which moments will forever be etched in the minds and hearts of the audience who watched them unfold live on the WWE Network and in countries all across the globe?

Which moments will be most closely associated with the event years from now?

Let's take a look.

Shane McMahon Crashes and Burns

Everyone knew Shane McMahon was going to do something insane during his Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker. A big bump was definitely in store for the prodigal son, but most assumed it would come at the hands of his opponent and not his own.

But as he stood atop Hell in a Cell, The Phenom lying on the announcer table some 25 feet below, he looked into the crowd and made the sign of the cross. Despite fans below chanting, "please don't jump," he took one step off the edge and sailed through the air...and crashed through the announcer table.

Undertaker avoided the elbow drop by seconds, moving ever-so-slightly out of the way and watching in awe as his opponent demolished the broadcast position.

It was a moment unlike any other at the event—a display of intestinal fortitude and proof of McMahon's determination to give fans a WrestleMania moment they would never, ever forget.

With his sons watching in the crowd, he stole the show as only he can.

Bow Down at the Feet of The Authority

WrestleMania has become as synonymous with theatrical entrances as it has phenomenal wrestling matches. On Sunday night, Triple H did not disappoint.

With wife Stephanie McMahon clad in leather, demanding the fans grovel at the feet of The Authority, and minions sporting post-apocalyptic outfits and skull masks leading him to the ring, Triple H made an unforgettable entrance on the grandest stage imaginable.

Much like his arrival to his match against John Cena in 2006, Daniel Bryan in 2014 and Sting last year, Triple H once again stroked his ego with the most over-the-top display of grandeur and badassery possible.

It worked and, when all was said and done, may have been the most memorable aspect of his main event performance.

Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch Steal the Show

There was considerable pressure on Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks as they arrived at AT&T Stadium Sunday night for WrestleMania.

They were the subject of much hype, and their Triple Threat match for female supremacy was intended to reignite the importance of women's wrestling in WWE. Add to that the decision to discontinue the Divas Championship and relaunch the WWE women's title, and you have the recipe for a potential letdown.

But it never came.

The women delivered a stunning performance and arguably the best match of the night. They combined crowd-pleasing three-women spots and the story of Ric Flair at ringside to create a dramatic and emotional contest that wowed over 101,000 fans and proved that women's wrestling is not only alive, but it is also thriving.

A lot of people put a lot of faith into them living up to lofty expectations, including NXT head Triple H.

They did not disappoint.

Roman Reigns Supreme

Like him or hate him, Roman Reigns leaving WrestleMania with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was one of the night's few sure things.

He did just that, defeating Triple H and taking back the title he had held on two previous occasions.

With an enormous crowd booing the decision, he knelt while emotionally looking into the golden gaze of the top prize in the industry.

Reigns leaves the event as the most polarizing champion since John Cena and the leader of a new era in World Wrestling Entertainment.
