Javier Baez Suffers Eye Injury vs. Brewers After OF Collision with Jason Heyward
Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez was forced to leave Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers after colliding with teammate Jason Heyward.
The Cubs announced Baez suffered a left eye contusion in the collision. The play occurred in the sixth inning on a shallow pop-up to center field when Baez fell to the ground and into the path of Heyward's legs.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Per Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times, Baez "gave a thumbs-up from the ground as he waited for the trainer to reach him, but he was clearly shaken up by the play."
Baez tweeted positive thoughts after the game:
Baez, 24, hit .201 with 10 home runs and 24 RBI in 80 games over his first two seasons, but the trade that sent Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees before last season opened the door for Baez to earn more playing time in 2016. He responded, hitting .273 with 14 home runs, 59 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
While the team is loaded across the board, Baez is the top option at second base and has the ability to play virtually every position.
With Baez sidelined, Ben Zobrist will likely get most starts at second base, while Tommy La Stella will likely see more playing time.
Few teams have the depth the Cubs possess, so Baez's injury won't severely damage their plans. And with versatile players such as La Stella and Zobrist at his disposal, manager Joe Maddon should have little difficulty crafting a dangerous lineup.
