Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns Has Match of the Year Potential
Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are poised to lock down the Match of the Year race early.
A great convergence of talent, an intriguing dynamic and numerous narrative routes for WWE to take have expectations high heading into that match. Even with its narrative flaws, Lesnar vs. Ambrose vs. Reigns has the makings of an instant classic.
Reigns is back to chasing the championship after The Authority conspired to strip the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from his grip at the Royal Rumble.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
On Monday's Raw, Stephanie McMahon announced that whoever impressed the most that night would earn a spot in Fastlane's main event, and that the winner of that bout would earn the right to face Triple H at WrestleMania.
Apparently, Reigns and Ambrose did enough in their tag match against Rusev and Sheamus. McMahon decided to push them both into Fastlane's marquee matchup. And although Lesnar wasn't around to do any impressing, McMahon placed him in the clash for No. 1 contender, too.
Logic be damned, though. Fastlane now has a thrill ride of a match as its climax.
The idea of those three gladiators going at it already has many excited. Kyle Fowle of the A.V. Club noted that the main event boasts "the promise of something great." The folks at The Canvas Theory podcast are clearly pumped, too:
Pitting all three men against each other creates a fresh combination.
Fans have seen Ambrose and Reigns face off, as well as Lesnar and Reigns, but never The Lunatic Fringe and The Beast Incarnate. And putting them all together makes for a unique dynamic.
Could Reigns and Ambrose team up in the early going to eliminate Lesnar? Could Ambrose be a plant placed here to cheat Reigns once more? Will The Wyatt Family end up being the deciding factor, wiping out Lesnar to continue that burgeoning feud?
As Fighting Spirit Magazine pointed out, there are numerous options in front of WWE:
That and the high stakes will aid a match set to feature three highly talented performers.
We know Ambrose and Reigns can pull off a good match against each other. They flourished in the finals of the WWE title tournament at Survivor Series. They had the crowd roaring when they slugged it out as part of the Fatal 4-Way at Payback.
As for Lesnar and Reigns, they pulled off something special last year at WrestleMania.
Their title match was an intense, hard-hitting clash that cemented Reigns' rise to WWE's top rungs. The Big Dog has since added nearly a year's worth of experience, producing a long list of standout matches along the way.
WWE fans know full well, too, that Lesnar can thrive in a Triple Threat. WWE.com editors named Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins vs. John Cena 2015's best match. With another crack at two stellar performers, it's easy to imagine him nabbing that top spot again.

The bout's glaring flaw, however, is how little sense it makes that The Authority put Reigns in this position.
ProWrestling.net's Jason Powell tackled the logic issues when he wrote, "I know they tried to cover it with the 'Always do what's best for business' line, but how ridiculous is it that Reigns is getting a chance to get another title shot just a night after they stacked the deck against him to take the title away from him?"
WWE has to address this and have it make more sense for Lesnar vs. Reigns vs. Ambrose to reach its full potential. Fans can't go into this scratching their heads.
Maybe The Authority intends on leaving Reigns too hurt beforehand to even compete. Maybe McMahon and Triple H will continue to try to sway him toward the dark side. The plot hole has to be repaired in some fashion.
That will free Ambrose, Lesnar and Reigns to work their magic between the ropes, and give the Fastlane pay-per-view a shot to have its best match to date.
