Devin Booker Sets Suns Rookie Record with 6 3-Pointers Made

Bleacher Report MilestonesJan 20, 2016

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, the 13th overall selection in the 2015 NBA draft, set a franchise rookie record by making six three-point shots in Tuesday's 97-94 loss to the Indiana Pacers, per NBA.com/Stats.

Already known as a long-range gunner, the 19-year-old University of Kentucky product single-handedly kept his team in Tuesday's contest, making six of his 11 three-point attempts and nine of his 16 field-goal attempts in a 32-point effort—albeit with just two assists, four turnovers and no rebounds, blocks or steals in 40 minutes.

Still, even with the lack of complementary statistics, Booker was really the only Suns player to show up on Tuesday, as the team otherwise made just 19 of its 65 field-goal attempts (29.2 percent) and five of its 24 three-point tries (20.8 percent).

Fellow guard Brandon Knight did have 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists, but he struggled badly before halftime and turned the ball over eight times.

Although his defense and ball-handling could still use some work, Booker has already proven to have an NBA-caliber jump shot, making 115 of his 238 field-goal attempts (48.3 percent) and 33 of his 74 three-point attempts (44.6 percent) through the first 37 games of his career.

With star guard (and fellow Kentucky product) Eric Bledsoe expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn meniscus, Booker should continue to log heavy minutes for a struggling Suns team that lacks other scoring options.
