Finn Balor, Josh Bredl and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News
Finn Balor's hand signals and Josh Bredl's Twitter commentary triggered some of the most-talked about WWE NXT news this week.
Balor may be just toying with fans or offering signs that his allies at New Japan Pro Wrestling are on their way to WWE's developmental brand.
As for Bredl, a recent tweet got him in hot water with a number of wrestlers. The WWE Tough Enough winner wasn't the only former contestant of that reality show to make headlines. Sara Lee took an early step in her career. Daniel Puder, who won the contest in 2004, made news with comments about his time with WWE.
Josh Bredl Getting Heat for Twitter Comment
1 of 5Josh Bredl, co-winner of the most edition of WWE Tough Enough, is making waves, but not the kind he wants to.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Bredl referred to the Social Outcasts faction as "social jobbers." As seen on The Eck Factor (NSFW language), Stardust, Adam Rose, Heath Slater and Kevin Owens were among those who took offense to the remark, and they came after him on Twitter.
That's not the end of it, apparently.
Dave Meltzer reported on F4WOnline, "There is a ton of heat on him today from the main roster, to the point where it is possible that management will have to step in to try to quell things if they have not already."
While one might see this all as an overreaction, it's clear that Bredl is going to have his work cut out for him in regard to climbing out of this hole. As a winner of a reality show, he's already seen as an outsider. Taking jabs at Heath Slater and company only distanced himself further.
Former Developmental Prospect Talks Bullying During WWE Stint
2 of 5Daniel Puder doesn't stay quiet for long. The winner of WWE Tough Enough in 2004 made bold accusations against the company he briefly wrestled for.
Puder spoke (NSFW language) with the Pancakes and Powerslams podcast (h/t Wrestling Inc) about his time with WWE.
He talked about Big Show slamming him into a locker, his now-famous incident with Kurt Angle and claimed that former NXT trainer Bill DeMott physically abused him.
Puder said of DeMott, "One day I did a move wrong and stood up. He came over and grabbed my pinky and bent it backwards. I go, 'Well. Are you gonna break it, or are you gonna actually let me do this move right and teach me right?'"
DeMott resigned amid allegations of bullying and abuse last March, per Marissa Payne of the Washington Post. Puder restarted that discussion with his stories of DeMott's behavior.
Not that WWE was looking to bring him back, but taking shots at Big Show and others won't help his relationship with the company.
Sara Lee Makes NXT Debut
3 of 5Sara Lee made a less tantalizing move than her fellow WWE Tough Enough co-winner Josh Bredl. She stepped onto the NXT stage for the first time.
As seen on Ringside News and Wrestling Inc, Lee debuted at last Friday's live event in Cocoa Beach, Florida. This was a non-wrestling appearance. Lee only delivered a promo to the crowd.
Still, officials had to be confident enough in her speaking ability to let her loose with a mic in hand. That's a step in the right direction. Some prospects don't make it out of the WWE Performance Center.
She's plenty athletic and showed a lot of growth in the ring throughout Tough Enough, so don't bet on her wrestling debut being far away.
Finn Balor Potentially Teasing Bullet Club's Arrival
4 of 5Finn Balor is either having fun toying with fans or is laying out hints that his old allies from Bullet Club are set to arrive at NXT.
Amid rumors (which WWE acknowledged on its website) that WWE is set to sign Balor's former teammates Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson, Balor offered not-so-subtle clues that the Bullet Club could be reforming.
The NXT champ flashed a Bullet Club sign (h/t Robbie Diesel) during a match against Sami Zayn. At a show in Milwaukee, Balor did so again, as seen on Wrestling Inc's Instagram. This came after he posted photos of the Bullet Club on Instagram (like this one) last week.
Here's hoping Balor is not just getting fans' hopes up.
Other News, Notes
5 of 5Recent signee Satender Ved Pal debuted at a WWE house show in India on Jan. 15 against Chad Gable, per ProFightDB.com. On the WWE Instagram account, he is listed as Jeet Rama.
No word on if he will jump straight to NXT TV or train more at the WWE Performance Center.
Technical difficulties bogged down an NXT live event last week, but it turned out be an opportunity for Finn Balor to bond with the crowd.
Mike Johnson reported on PWInsider.com that the show was "delayed due to a problem with the venue." While fans waited in the cold, Finn Balor came out to entertain them, as NXT tweeted.
With Balor firmly holding the NXT title, does that mean Sami Zayn moves on to the main roster? The former champ made it clear one of his goals is to be on Raw on a permanent basis.
In an interview with Alternative Press, Zayn said, "Outside of myself looking to move full-time to Raw in 2016, I would say to keep your eye on NXT as we expand on a gigantic 2015 and go on to do even more big things. Keep your eyes out for some imports that may be coming in soon."
No telling yet if those "imports" are Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson.
