Projecting Best Ways for Triple H to Return to WWE TV

Aaron BowerJan 6, 2016

A fleeting appearance at NXT TakeOver: London aside, Triple H has done a pretty impressive job of selling the beating Roman Reigns handed out to him at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December.

But with a crucial period for the company just around the corner, you feel The Game will be back on TV screens within the next couple of weeks.

Whether he returns at January 24's Royal Rumble pay-per-view or before or after that, it won't be long until The Authority is restored to a full quota with Triple H back on TV.

But what are the best ways to bring him back with a bang? Clearly they all revolve around the plans involving Roman Reigns, but there are a number of ways to tinker with his return. Let's examine the most obvious choices.

He's a Surprise Entrant in the Royal Rumble

This particular return could end in a number of ways, but it would be a big twist to see Triple H come back onto WWE TV in a non-authoritarian role.

With it looking like Roman Reigns is going to survive through the field and retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship, have The Authority throw a spanner in the works by letting Triple H enter the Royal Rumble match late on.

He eventually manages to eliminate Reigns and cost him his title, which would naturally set up a meeting between the two at a later date, probably at WrestleMania.

But does he win the match and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? That doesn't really feel right to be honest, as a Reigns vs. Triple H feud could happen without the title on the line.

That clears things up for someone else to have a run with the title after a shock return to in-ring action for Triple H.

He Appears at the Royal Rumble to Screw Reigns

There's another way Reigns could be prevented from winning the Royal Rumble and Triple H can return on the night of the Royal Rumble, of course.

Reigns' chief foe lately has been Vince McMahon, but at the Rumble itself, The Authority gets even stronger with the return of Triple H to its ranks.

It's kept a surprise all night, probably until the end of the match itself, when there's Reigns and only a couple of other guys left in the ring.

He and, for example, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens and Brock Lesnar are all on the floor in the latter stages of the bout.

Reigns rises to his feet first, but he's met from behind by Stephanie McMahon, who has dashed down to ringside to try and distract Roman.

He then turns around and is confronted by Triple H, who knocks him down and orders the other men in the ring to toss him over the top rope.

Triple H Shows Up Before the Rumble

WWE might feel that its best option is to give the Rumble a shot in the arm ahead of the PPV and have Triple H show up a week or two before to hype the event.

This is the time of the year when stars declare their intention to enter the Royal Rumble match, so why not have Triple H return on an upcoming edition of Raw, knock Reigns down and say he's entering the match to take the championship from Reigns?

The surprise option is taken away from WWE with this alternative, but it does at least help The Authority look strong and pump up a feud between Reigns and Triple H in advance of the Rumble.

Mini-feuds within the Rumble match are always well-received, and as long as it doesn't completely dominate the whole of the bout, having Triple H come back early and push the Rumble match might just be the smartest move of all.
