Thierry Henry Names Dennis Bergkamp as the Best Team-Mate He Ever Played with

Thierry Henry had to overlook a lot of "freaks" to name Dennis Bergkamp as the greatest player he has ever played with.

The former France, Arsenal and Barcelona star has a glittering list of ex-colleagues and was asked in a Facebook Q&A (via Joe.co.uk) to name the most talented of the lot.

"Because of longevity, and because I saw him every day in training for seven years, Dennis Bergkamp," Henry revealed. "Because he was always doing what the game was asking him to do."

The pair played together with the Gunners between 1999, when Henry joined from Juventus, and Bergkamp's retirement in 2006.

"I admired how Dennis was always trying to respect the game. He could score, but he could also pass and wait for the right moment. ... He was always trying to respect the game when he could do other stuff."

With the Dutchman as a team-mate, Henry lifted the Premier League twice while also winning three FA Cups.

"I respected him a lot for that but also the way he trained," he continued. "The way he used to train was just not normal. The guy didn't want to lose the ball; he would foul you, get in your face. He wants to be first in the run."

Bergkamp beat some stiff competition to be named Henry's top team-mate given that the Frenchman played alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho in his career.

"But then I have to mention the freaks," Henry said. "Leo is a freak. I think you guys do not understand what the guy is doing. Him, Zizou, all these guys, you cannot do what they do because it's not humanly possible."
