NFL Fans React to Myles Garrett's Rams Debut, Quiet Game vs. 49ers After Browns Trade
The Los Angeles Rams made a blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett this offseason, hoping the defensive end would give them an elite defensive line.
In the first game of the season, that wasn't the case.
Against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne on Thursday, Garrett had no tackles, pressures or sacks as the Rams lost 27-7. Fans were a bit disappointed with the quiet debut.
Garrett is coming off one of the best defensive seasons in NFL history, racking up a record 23 sacks, so Rams fans were understandably expecting him to make an impact from the jump.
But the 49ers were clearly prepared for the star pass rusher and managed to shut him down early.
Obviously there's still plenty of time for Garrett to get things going. It's the first game of the season and is being played on the other side of the world, so a lot of factors could have contributed to the slow start.
Assuming Garrett returns to his typical self, the Rams will have one of the best defenses in the league. The team also added Aaron Donald after he came out of retirement, and the duo of him and Garrett will presumably wreck opposing offensive lines.
In the Rams' season opener, though, Garrett was essentially a non-factor.
