Brandin Cooks out for Super Bowl with Head Injury After Malcolm Jenkins Hit
New England Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks suffered a head injury when he took a big hit from Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Malcolm Jenkins during Sunday's Super Bowl. Cooks has been ruled out for the remainder of the game, per the Patriots' Twitter account.
Cooks, 24, stayed down for some time, although Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times noted he eventually made it to the sideline under his own power.
In his fourth season out of Oregon State, Cooks is in his first year with the Patriots. He recorded 65 receptions for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season. Cooks told reporters why the opportunity to play with Tom Brady was amazing.
