Cary Williams Released by Seahawks: Latest Comments and Reaction
The Seattle Seahawks are releasing cornerback Cary Williams, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Adam Caplan of ESPN confirmed the news.
Williams signed a three-year, $18 million deal with the Seahawks in March to replace Byron Maxwell, who left via free agency.
The 30-year-old started the first 10 games of the season, even scoring a touchdown in the opener, but has been a healthy inactive the last two weeks, according to Danny O'Neil of 710 ESPN Seattle (via MyNorthwest.com).

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In Sunday's 38-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis, the Seahawks went with Richard Sherman, DeShawn Shead, Jeremy Lane and Marcus Burley at cornerback.
Defensive coordinator Kris Richard indicated Monday that Williams had lost his starting job, per Bob Condottaof the Seattle Times.
"There's nothing guaranteed for anyone," Richard said. "We all understand that. He's battling right now to essentially seize his spot back. He's come back out here with a great attitude, locked back in, focused back in, so everybody's competing."
The Seahawks are 7-5 but one of the league's hottest teams, having won five of their last six games.
Should they reach the playoffs, the two-time reigning NFC champions would be considered one of the most dangerous teams—particularly because of their relentless defense, which ranks second in total defense (308.2 yards allowed per game), third in scoring (19.1 points), third against the run (87.8 yards) and fourth against the pass (220.5 yards per game).
