'Monday Night Football' Week 11: TV Schedule, Live Stream for Bills vs. Patriots

Andrew GouldNov 23, 2015

In arguably the most intriguing Monday Night Football matchup of the season, the revived Buffalo Bills will take a crack at denting the New England Patriots' perfect record.

At 9-0, winning the AFC East is all but a foregone conclusion for New England. For Buffalo, however, the division showdown carries significant wild-card implications.

Enjoying a healthy complement of offensive starters, the Bills rose to 5-4 with victories over the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins in consecutive weeks. If they can continue their division success in Foxborough, they'll gain full possession of a postseason bid.

Meanwhile, the Patriots discovered their mortality in a narrow Week 10 victory over the New York Giants, needing another controversial no-catch call and last-second field goal to edge out a 27-26 win. Nine weeks after dominating the Bills defense in a 40-32 shootout, they'll engage in a rematch without two of their top contributors.

Breaking up a season of skippable Monday-night showdowns, this game—ripe with upset potential—is a must-watch.

When the Patriots and Bills met in Week 2, Tom Brady amassed a season-high 466 passing yards and three touchdowns while Tyrod Taylor coughed up three interceptions during his second career start.

Breakout running back Dion Lewis highlighted the victory with 138 total yards and a score on 13 touches. Julian Edelman also cemented his spot as Brady's top wideout, collecting 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 11 catches.

New England won't have either at its disposal for the rematch. Lewis, who averaged 88.9 total yards per game, suffered a season-ending ACL tear two weeks ago. Nobody could have anticipated a 25-year-old who hadn't played since 2012 mattering this much to a Super Bowl contender, but he dialed an explosive offense up another notch.

The Pats felt his absence against the Giants, recording 77 rushing yards on 23 attempts. James White and Brandon Bolden, competing to fill the void, combined for eight total yards.

Making matters worse, Edelman will miss six to eight weeks due to a broken foot. Per CSNNE.com's Phil Perry, head coach Bill Belichick offered a blunt assessment of the difficulties ahead:

"

That will definitely be challenging. Aside from all the X’s and O’s and all that, just the amount of timing that those players have with each other, with the quarterback, with Josh the offensive coordinator, and being able to have experience in doing a lot of those things, that’s really hard to replace. I mean, you just can’t do it.

"

ESPN Stats & Info took a more quantitative approach to identifying both players' importance to New England's offense:

Then again, Belichick is still coaching a team with Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Danny Amendola, phased out by Edelman, gets a second opportunity in the spotlight. He has proved an effective option in limited reps, snagging 40 of his 48 targets for 403 yards.

As relayed by ESPN's Michele Steele, the 30-year-old is ready to combat Buffalo's No. 18 passing defense:

Meanwhile, the Bills finally have all of their key offensive pieces back together. In five games with Taylor, running backs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams and wide receiver Sammy Watkins, they're averaging 31 points a pop.

The rushing tandem of McCoy and Williams in particular will prove paramount to an upset. While the starter finally looks healthy, attaining 112 rushing yards in back-to-back outings, Williams has reached the end zone in all six games he's played this season.

Bothered by a hamstring injury earlier in the season, McCoy looks more like the top rusher from his days with the Philadelphia Eagles. "Just feeling good again, feeling quick," McCoy told the Associated Press' John Wawrow. "I feel like myself."

New England entered Week 11 ranked No. 2 against the run, but the top-ranked Jets couldn't stymie them in Week 10. Belichick can get away with eschewing the run. The Bills can't.

Buffalo fares better when sticking to head coach Rex Ryan's ground-and-ground plan. Taylor has attempted 104 passes in five wins and 72 in two losses. He has only surrendered one pick outside of his three against the Pats, but he'll also have to air it out more to keep up.

For a Week 11 NFL game, Buffalo enters with an incredibly light injury report. Outside of defensive tackle Kyle Williams and potentially guard Richie Incognito, the team treks into Foxborough with a healthy squad. Among the Patriots' remaining seven games, the Bills are most capable of ruining their campaign for another 16-0 season.
