Per Castillo, Webster has a partially torn labrum in his right hip, and while that will keep him out for the rest of the regular season, a return for the playoffs is possible.
Webster attempted to grind through the injury with the help of cortisone shots, but he ultimately decided that course of action wasn't working:
"We tried everything else and I just wasn't getting the results that I wanted. So I wanted to go out and get it taken care of rather than playing this season in some discomfort and then wait until the offseason to get it taken care of and then rehab the whole offseason and then try to find a rhythm come training camp. I'd rather take care of it now.
"
Webster hasn't played in any games this season, and the 28-year-old swingman appeared in just 32 games last year due to a back issue. That resulted in the worst season of his career, as he averaged just 3.3 points per game.
He has the talent to be a strong complement to the dynamic backcourt duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal, and he is a threat from long range with a career three-point shooting mark of 38.2 percent.
Staying on the court has proven difficult for Webster, though, and while he told Castillo there is an 85 percent chance he'll return to full strength after the surgery, his durability will undoubtedly be a question mark moving forward.
