Rockets Have Enough Depth to Survive Beverley's Injury
Injuries have been an unfortunate subplot to Beverley's young NBA career. After surging into a starting role in 2013-14, the 27-year-old has struggled to remain in that spot. This March, he was forced out of action for season-ending wrist surgery, and in March 2014, he tore the meniscus in his right knee.
Despite off-court troubles that ultimately resulted in his leaving Denver, Ty Lawson has proved capable of supplanting Beverley in the Rockets' starting five.
Veteran Jason Terry and superstar James Harden are combo guards who can run the offense if needed, which in part explains Beverley's modest average of 19 minutes per game this season.
The Rockets dealt with Beverley's injury last season among multiple others and still made the conference finals in the loaded Western Conference. It stands to reason that Houston can weather his absence for what should be a less extensive period of time.
