Real Madrid Transfer News: Jese Clarifies Future Amid Arsenal, Liverpool Rumours

Tom SunderlandOct 26, 2015

A lack of playing time won't stop Jese Rodriguez from pursuing his future at Real Madrid after insisting he's "very happy" at the Santiago Bernabeu amid rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Jese set team-mate Danilo up for Real Madrid's second goal during Saturday's 3-1 victory at Celta Vigo, after which he told the club's official website he was content in the capital (h/t talkSPORT): "I've always wanted to be at Real Madrid and be a success. I'm very happy. I always try to make the most of the playing time the coach gives me, and I feel good and I have to carry on like this."

The report stated both Arsenal and Liverpool have had the winger scouted "on several occasions," but any chance of a winter move away seems slim following the player's clear statement of loyalty.

Jese moved to Real Madrid's academy in 2007 and made his first-team debut in 2011, but he has only managed to make any real senior impact at the Bernabeu in the past season-and-a-half.

Saturday's outing was just the player's third start of the La Liga campaign, but he and fellow youngster Lucas Vazquez took their chances in a performance that showed they do have worth to manager Rafa Benitez.

Bleacher Report's Tim Collins outlined that as long as Jese is afforded his chances among the Bernabeu's more signature stars, he's capable of producing quality:

However, there is the lingering fear for Jese that while his chances are coming for the time being, he may not be able to bank on that prominence once Benitez has a fully fit squad to call upon.

Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez are both sidelined with injuries at present, while Isco and Mateo Kovacic started on the bench for Saturday's result, but they aren't thought to be 100-percent fit.

ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan was quick to point out what a positive it was for Benitez to see Jese and Vazquez impressing against Celta, preventing any critics from claiming he doesn't offer the youth a chance:

Arsenal and Liverpool are mentioned as two of the teams who would look to take on someone who's become a peripheral figure at the Bernabeu, particularly after going through an injury-hit 2014-15 season.

Former boss Carlo Ancelotti did appear eager to hand the 22-year-old his opportunities when fit, however, as Jese made 16 La Liga appearances between January and May of this year.

This latest chance to prove himself will only have reinforced the idea in Jese's head that he can one day become a star with Los Blancos, no matter how unlikely it may seem as long as the club keep signing new stars.
