Redskins Set Franchise Record by Overcoming 24-Point Deficit
Badly in need of a win, the Washington Redskins set a new franchise record by overcoming a 24-point deficit in Sunday's eventual 31-30 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Playing at home and favored to win by Odds Shark, the Redskins surprisingly found themselves trailing 10-0 within the first 10 minutes of the game, and the score then extended to 24-0 with more than eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins shook off a slow start to lead a 74-yard touchdown drive before halftime, narrowing the deficit to 24-7 with an eight-yard scoring scramble on a designed pass play.

He then threw for two more touchdowns during the third quarter, taking advantage of good field position to engineer a pair of drives that required just 11 combined plays.
It was a back-and-forth battle from that point on, with Redskins kicker Dustin Hopkins' field goal sandwiched between Bucs kicker Connor Barth's pair of field goals in the fourth quarter.
Trailing 30-24 with just two minutes and 24 seconds remaining after Barth's second field goal, the Redskins stormed down the field for an 11-play, 80-yard drive, eventually scoring the game-winning touchdown with 24 seconds remaining on a six-yard pass from Cousins to tight end Jordan Reed.
According to Chris Russell of 106.7 The Fan, the Redskins had previously overcome 21-point deficits on three separate occasions (1965, 1990 and 1999).
