Twitter Reacts as United and City Draw 0-0 in Manchester Derby
Cross-town rivalry, injuries to key players, the potential to go top of the Premier League table with a victory and the chance to make or break Wayne Rooney's 30th-birthday celebrations.
Sunday's Manchester derby—the 170th, if you were wondering—had all the ingredients of a classic, with the exception of any on-field action.
United manager Louis van Gaal was doing all he could to impress the judges pre-match.

But in the opening exchanges, it was Anthony Martial's skill that caught the eye.
Then, on the other side of the spectrum, there was Wayne Rooney's head injury before he was stapled—yes, stapled—back together on the sidelines.

In fact in the first half, Van Gaal's side achieved an unwanted record.
The game didn't exactly spark into life in the second period, with fans getting a wee bit distracted from what they saw on TV.
Back to the action, and a wide Chris Smalling header was the highlight for the home side after the break. Fans started to worry we might be heading for a stalemate.

Though we did get a classic Phil Jones pose for the cameras.
But then news started to filter through that fans at the other 2:05 p.m. kick-off were treated to six goals.

Just as it seemed all hope was lost, enter Jesus Navas.
All of a sudden, the game burst into life, with substitute Jesse Lingard denied by the woodwork in the 85th minute. A Smalling effort was saved by Joe Hart moments later.
But neither side could break the deadlock before the referee brought an end to a forgettable Manchester derby. The result was enough to put City top on goal difference, while United stay fourth, behind West Ham United.
We'll let the fans sum it up.
