Watch World Cup Hero Ferran Torres Throw 1st Pitch at Yankees vs. Cardinals Game
From World Cup hero to Yankee Stadium, it has been quite a summer for Ferran Torres.
The Spain forward, who scored the only goal in his team's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final of the 2026 men's World Cup, threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium ahead of the New York Yankees' matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday:
The pitch came after he was seen practicing his throwing on the streets of New York.
While throwing out the first pitch is quite an accomplishment, it is far from Torres' most notable athletic achievement this summer.
He scored the game-winner in the 106th minute in extra time to give Spain the World Cup title over Lionel Messi and Argentina. Despite the game going into extra time, Spain was dominant throughout and finished with 12 shots to Argentina's zero.
Yet the victors needed Torres' late magic to actually claim the trophy.
It was a goal that made him a hero in Spain forever and earned him the opportunity to throw out the first pitch Tuesday.
