Tarik Skubal's Final Box Score Stats, Highlights from Dodgers Debut vs. Cubs After Trade from Tigers

Most starting pitchers would kill for the sort of debut Tarik Skubal had with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night. For the two-time Cy Young-winner, though, it was just another night at the office.

Skubal went six innings in his first start for the defending champs, striking out six while giving up just two runs on four hits and two walks against the Chicago Cubs. He was pulled before the bottom of the seventh inning at 85 pitches, though the Dodgers ultimately lost the game, 5-1, and Skubal took the loss.

A Dansby Swanson homer was Skubal's most glaring error on the night:

He got in some trouble in the bottom of the sixth after walking Seiya Suzuki and giving up a deep fly ball to right field against Alex Bregman that was misplayed by Kyle Tucker, leading to a double. Suzuki was then thrown out at home plate after a grounder to second base but Bregman scored on a high infield chopper one batter later.

That was the only damage in the frame but it was enough to give the Cubs a 2-1 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

As for the trade that brought Skubal to Los Angeles, it was met with plenty of consternation from fans of other teams, weary of the Dodgers routinely landing the biggest names in the sport either through free agency or trades. Skubal wasn't exactly sympathetic to their plight, however.

"Every team could trade for me," Skubal told reporters Monday. "You know, every team could make that acquisition. I don't really sympathize with people that blame the Dodgers for anything they've done. It's a winning organization. Now the complaints seem to be because they've won the last two World Series. I don't think it was like that three years ago."
