Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard Rumours

Tom SunderlandOct 25, 2015

Major moves could be on the horizon at Stamford Bridge after the Blues were pleased to learn Paul Pogba has not agreed a transfer to Barcelona, but the future of star winger Eden Hazard has been thrown into doubt.

Juventus have made a horror start to the 2015-16 campaign, but Pogba's agent Mino Raiola told Radio Deejay his client was right to stay in Turin and has no agreement with Barca (via Daily Mail's Ben Nagle):

"

Is there a deal for a future sale to Barcelona? Absolutely not. Anyone who wants him has to sit down with Juve and then we will see.

Over the summer there were three or four teams interested, but he chose to stay at Juventus and is still convinced of that choice.

Pogba remained at Juve because he made the choice with his heart when he had big important offers and now fans forget that.

Like Chelsea, domestic champions Juve have struggled this term and currently sit four points from the bottom of the Serie A standings. That follows a summer during which Pogba was being linked with a move to west London.

That failure has resulted in pressure mounting on Pogba, but Raiola goes on to reference Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved, who was quoted by Goal's Dan Kilpatrick defending his midfield talisman:

"

Paul Pogba is our player and he is extremely talented.

For one born in 1993, he showed some exceptional things.

I am in touch with him daily, and he doesn't need advice. Perhaps we should ask ourselves if we're the ones who are asking too much from a player of that age. We must leave him alone. I have no worries, his future is extremely bright.

"

Pogba moved to the Old Lady in 2012 and has won the Serie A title in each of the three seasons he's played in the Italian top flight, but that streak is now in danger of being ended as the club sits nine points off the summit.

Spanish football writer Sergi Dominguez has asserted that even if Barca were able to sign the playmaker, Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti would make for a more sensible signing:

Nagle mentions Pogba as boasting a price tag of more than £100 million, and it's been fervently suggested that Juve would demand a world-record sum if they were to part ways with the France international.

Up until now, their domestic dominance may have been enough to convince Pogba to remain, but should this season's misery continue, it could prove the push the player needs to be convinced of an exit next year.

The Blues would be one of the few teams with the means to sign the player, and with Jose Mourinho's side going through a sour patch of their own of late, a spending revolution may not be far away.

There's a chance that move will depend largely on the future of Hazard, too, after the Sun's Mike McGrath reported on Sunday that Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to bring the player back to Ligue 1 with a £75 million offer.

Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star Sunday added that Barca, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in the winger, who's rumoured to have fallen out with manager Jose Mourinho.

Speculation of a French comeback may be considered futile before it's begun, though, after Kristof Terreur of Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws provided comment from the player insisting Ligue 1 is behind him:

The 24-year-old is yet to score in 14 appearances this season and has been unable to prevent Chelsea's slide down the Premier League table, sitting in 15th after 10 Premier League outings.

The Blues' most recent result was Saturday's 2-1 defeat at West Ham United, but Bleacher Report's Garry Hayes insisted the fans are yet to turn on their two-time Player of the Year:

Despite this term's fall from grace, Europe's giants are all too aware of the talent former Lille starlet Hazard possesses, having ripped his way through the French top flight before moving to England in 2013.

It's no coincidence Chelsea's star-studded squad have lost their rhythm all at once, but there's no reason to suggest an individual like Hazard couldn't rediscover his best form in fresh surroundings.

That being said, Chelsea aren't likely to be willing to sell their poster boy considering his contract runs until the summer of 2020 and the Roman Abramovich-funded outfit aren't desperate to cash in.

Hazard's situation could become less tenable should the player begin to actively pursue an exit, but there's a long way to go before that seems a possibility under the rule of Mourinho.
