NASCAR at Talladega 2015: Race Schedule, Live Stream Info and Drivers to Watch

Tim DanielsOct 25, 2015

The CampingWorld.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday marks the final race of the Contender Round in the NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup. The bottom four drivers still in championship contention will be eliminated after the race.

These make-or-break races always carry some extra intrigue. They force the drivers on the fringe to take some chances they probably wouldn't otherwise risk with hope they can either pull off the victory or make up enough points to avoid elimination.

With that in mind, let's check out all of the important viewing information for Sunday's critical race. That's followed by a look at the current standings and a deeper dive into some drivers to keep an eye on throughout the afternoon.

Drivers to Watch

Joey Logano

Consistency is the name of the game for championship contenders. Being able to avoid the DNFs and other poor outings that usually doom a title chase is essential. Logano has been able to do that with 10 straight finishes inside the top 10.

He's even taken it to another level over the last couple of weeks with victories at Charlotte and Kansas. It's vaulted him into the series lead with just five races to go. NASCAR Stats provided another note about the recent trips to Victory Lane:

Now the question is whether he can keep the hot streak alive. While there isn't as much pressure on him as the other drivers, he'll want to continue the momentum he's built up in recent weeks. Talladega hasn't treated him well in the past, however, with an average finish of 20.9 in 13 career starts.

Brad Keselowski

Keselowski currently sits in seventh place. While that would be good enough to advance, it's within the danger zone. He needs a solid showing Sunday to ensure he lives to fight another day, especially if one of the Chase drivers behind him ends up winning the race.

The good news is that he's enjoyed success at Talladega in the past. He's won three of his 13 starts at the track, including the fall race one year ago. He's also finished in the top 10 more than half the time, and adding to that total should be his goal.

That said, being on the fringe is the toughest position from a strategy standpoint. Keselowski doesn't want to put himself in too much danger trying to drive toward the front, but that may become necessary late in the race. That's where the experience of being a Sprint Cup champion comes into play.

Earnhardt is going through a slump at the worst possible point in the season. Junior has finished outside the top 20 three times in the past four races. That's left him in deep trouble, as he sits in 11th place heading into the elimination race.

The fan favorite needs to either win the race or finish near the top and get a lot of help in order to advance. That's obviously far from a desirable position, but he's embracing the challenge because he knows it makes things more interesting, per Mike Hembree of USA Today:

"

There's no denying the intensity and the pressure it puts on drivers like myself to be in a cutoff situation where you're eliminated if things don't go perfectly on Sunday. But I think it's what the fans enjoy. If I'm a fan, I like it.

I know I've read quite a few comments about this [Chase] system and whether it's fair and so forth. And I think I've read a lot of great opinions about that. But, it's definitely, as a fan, really what we needed.

"

Earnhardt is another driver with past success at Talladega, though. He's earned six victories in 31 appearances, including a triumph in the GEICO 500 back in May. So don't be surprised if he finds a way to earn a spot in the Eliminator Round once the dust settles Sunday.
