Dublin Marathon 2015: Route, Course Map, Times, Event Details
More than 15,000 runners are set to take part in the 2015 Dublin Marathon on Monday with last year's winners Eliud Too and Esther Macharia both among them.
The 36th edition of the race in the Irish capital will be the biggest yet, with 62 different nationalities set to be represented, per the Irish Times.
The largely flat, single-loop course takes in many of the famous city's most significant landmarks in its 26.2 miles and begins and ends in the city centre, near the prestigious Trinity College.
A full course map is available here, while the various start times can be seen below, per 2015 Dublin Marathon:
| Category | Start Time (GMT) |
| Wheelchair Entrants | 8:55 a.m. |
| First Wave | 9 a.m. |
| Second Wave | 9:10 a.m. |
| Final Wave | 9:20 a.m. |
Kenyan Too won last year's men's race in a time of 2:14:47. He returns this year hoping to claim victory once more, but his compatriots Daniel Tanui and Peter Somba will provide stiff competition.
Leading the Irish charge will be 2013 winner Sean Hehir, who recently posted a time of 2:17:48 at the Berlin Marathon at the end of September.
The AAI National Championship is on the line for the local runners, and Hehir faces competition in the shape of Barry Minnock and Eoin O’Callaghan.
On the women's side, Macharia just edged out Ireland's Maria McCambridge by mere seconds to take top spot in 2014.
The Kenyan runner returns to defend her title, but 2013 champion McCambridge will not be turning out on the streets of Dublin on Monday.
Macharia's fellow Kenyan Grace Momany and Ethiopia's Abebech Bekele are both major contenders to triumph in the women's race this year in a high-quality and likely enthralling contest.
This year's race will be the last to be run on October's Bank Holiday Monday, with organisers having announced its move to Sunday for next year in order to attract more international athletes to the event, per Mary McGuire on Her.ie.
It is sure to be, as ever, a very well supported event, with some genuine stars on show in the professional ranks along with the thousands of game amateurs.
