Georgia Football: 3 Startling Statistics Through 6 Weeks
The Georgia Bulldogs are at the halfway point of the 2015 season, and they have a 4-2 overall record with a 2-2 record in SEC play.
The Bulldogs wanted to be undefeated at this point in the season. And that was the thought for many Georgia fans, because with a strong running game, an improving defense and a new quarterback coming in, it looked like the Bulldogs had the tools to make a run at the College Football Playoff.
Now, after disappointing losses to Alabama and Tennessee, the Bulldogs just want to win a game to get some momentum going forward.
Here are three startling stats for the Bulldogs six weeks into the season.
Greyson Lambert
Greyson Lambert has had a roller coaster of a season. After completing 96 percent of his passes in the South Carolina game, he could not complete half of his passes in the Alabama and Tennessee games.
However, if you look at Lambert’s numbers, he is one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC.
Lambert has a passer rating 158.82, which is the third-best total in the conference. He also has nine touchdown passes, which ranks in the upper half of the conference, and he is one of three players in the conference to throw one interception or fewer.

Lambert was able to play solid against nonconference opponents and South Carolina. But when it comes to the rest of the SEC, it has been a struggle, and he will need to do better if the Bulldogs want to finish the season strong.
Third-Down Conversions
This has to be one of the more shocking stats for the Bulldogs, as they have had serious issues converting third downs. In fact, it’s so bad the Bulldogs rank last in the conference with a conversion percentage of 29.
The Bulldogs' inability to convert third downs was on display against Tennessee, when they converted four of 14. The Bulldogs did even worse against Alabama, converting just three of 17 third downs.
Despite scoring 37 points per game, the Bulldogs offense has not been efficient. That is another thing they will need to work on in the second half of the season.
Lorenzo Carter
After a strong freshman season in which he amassed 4.5 sacks in five starts, Lorenzo Carter looked like he was going to be the next great edge-rusher for the Bulldogs.
However, things have not gone Carter’s way so far this season, as he has yet to notch a sack and only has two quarterback hurries.

But it’s not just Carter who is struggling when it comes to rushing the quarterback. The Bulldogs only have nine sacks through six games, the second-lowest total in the SEC.
At the rate the Bulldogs are going, they will only end up with 18 sacks by the end of the season. That would be a significant drop from the last two seasons, as the Bulldogs had 33 sacks in 2013 and 28 last season.
