Neymar Transfer Appeal Detailed by Santos President Modesto Roma Junior
Santos president Modesto Roma Junior has spoken out about his club's action against former player Neymar, calling on FIFA to investigate his transfer to Barcelona in 2013.
Speaking to Cope Catalunya (h/t Tom Webber of Goal.com), the Brazilian club supremo explained he filed a lawsuit five months ago, despite Neymar still being revered by the fans:
"I filed the case in May. Despite being an idol, we denounce Neymar because there are things in which we disagree.
In the transfer, things were not done in a clear and transparent manner. The court and the Spanish prosecutor have proven it, as have the Brazilian courts.
It is our understanding that Fifa must be involved in the administrative discussion. There are things that are not right and Fifa should investigate.

The scandal is yet another potential indiscretion from Barca, who are banned from registering players until the next transfer window.
Webber noted that reports in Brazil claim Santos believe the player has flouted "Article 17 of FIFA transfer rules regarding the consequences of terminating a contract without due cause." The potential punishment for such an act is a six-month ban, temporarily halting the superstar's career in Spain.
Spanish newspaper SPORT added Santos are "ready to take things to the very limit" as they pursue the Brazilian player after feeling Neymar "betrayed" them. The club are seeking €55 million in compensation and damages.

SPORT also report the player has defended himself with a letter from former Santos president, Luis Alvaro de Oliveira, who prompted the sale of Neymar to Barcelona by allowing negotiations to take place in 2011.
The player has recently been subject to speculation about his future, with O Globo reporting Manchester United made a world-record bid to take the player from the Camp Nou in the summer, per sports writer Jonas Giaever:
Neymar has been a hit since his move to Europe, developing into one of the planet's elite players for club and country.
Despite playing second fiddle to Lionel Messi at Barca, the attacker is a hero in his homeland.
However, the scandal could have a negative impact on his status in Brazil if he receives a huge ban for any potential misconduct he is found guilty of.
