Porzingis Suffers Another Injury Setback
This isn't the first setback for the big man. Porzingis battled leg injuries before the season started, and head coach Derek Fisher stressed the importance of getting the team's top draft pick into tiptop shape.
"There's definitely something that we need to try and figure out [to] make sure to try and help him limit the injuries and the setbacks," Fisher said Oct. 13, per ESPN.com's Ian Begley. "It's for him, it's for us, it's for our medical team. We'll figure it out."
The No. 4 pick in the 2015 draft arrived in the Big Apple amid plenty of hype after the Knicks made him their first lottery pick since 2009.
In four games as a rookie, Porzingis has scored in double figures three times, and he grabbed 14 rebounds in Monday's game despite the injury.
The Knicks have some frontcourt depth, with Derrick Williams and Kyle O'Quinn serving as the team's main backups at the 4 and 5, respectively, but neither player offers the floor-stretching capabilities that make Porzingis special.
