WWE 2K16: Breaking Down Top New Features That Will Excite Fans

Brian MaziqueOct 14, 2015

There are many things to be excited about as it pertains to WWE 2K16.

Some are big, while others are small. Having had an opportunity to play the game during SummerSlam weekend, and in tracking all of the tidbits of information released over the last few months, I've narrowed the list of things to be most excited about down to four.

Massive Roster

Is the WWE 2K16 roster all-inclusive? Of course not—that's virtually impossible. However, the roster in the game is the largest we've ever seen in any previous WWE title. According to the roster page on WWE.2K.com, the game features 124 Superstars and Divas.

That makes for a ton of options. A few Superstars and/or Divas appear with different personas (including Steve Austin and Stephanie McMahon), but for the most part, the game boasts an excellent mix of the present, past and even the future.

The red-hot NXT roster is well-represented with the inclusion of Superstars such as Baron Corbin and Tyler Breeze. As solid as the roster already is, there's even more on the way.

Big-Time DLC

Through the Season Pass subscription and other DLC options, fans will be able to grow the total roster count from 124 to 147 playable Superstars and Divas. The Season Pass also includes a new addition to the 2K Showcase format and more than 30 new moves.

The legendary tag team the Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) is just one of the new additions to the roster. Kevin Owens' Sidewinder Suplex is one of the new moves that will be added with the DLC.

For a closer look at the new options, take a look at this video:

New Finishers

Those of us who like to create Superstars love the new finishing moves that have been added to the game as well. Whether you're creating a completely original character or trying to recreate someone who's not a part of the game's roster, the more moves you can add to a Superstar's repertoire, the better.

The development team released this video, which gives a glimpse into some of the new finishing moves:

MyCAREER Options

Last but not least, 2K has improved the MyCAREER mode. Last year's version felt a little bland. In this year's game, the mode looks to be designed to function like a role-playing experience.

Take a look at the trailer:

There's more than one path to the WWE Hall of Fame. That's refreshing. The beauty of the MyCAREER concept in NBA 2K—before this year—has always been the fact that each person's experience was different.

It's great to see the WWE 2K side moving in that direction as well.
