Manchester United Transfer News: Victor Valdes Eyed by Newcastle, Latest Rumours
Victor Valdes' wish to stay in the Premier League might become a reality as the player hopes for a move from Manchester United to Newcastle United.
Ed Malyon of the Mirror reports the goalkeeper is desperate to exit Old Trafford after being frozen out by coach Louis van Gaal and is open to a transfer to the Magpies to cover for injured Dutch stopper Tim Krul.
Malyon says LvG is willing to allow the Spaniard to leave for a club that is not a direct rival, halting a possible switch to Liverpool as a result, with the north-east giants being an acceptable alternative for all parties.

Krul was ruled out for the rest of the season after damaging knee ligaments for Holland on Saturday, as reported by Simon Bird of the Mirror, leaving Newcastle boss Steve McClaren with a goalkeeping headache.
Netherlands coach Danny Blind described Krul's knee problem as a "bad injury," per Bird, adding: “Tim landed the wrong way. It could be that it was because of the artificial turf, but I dare not say.”
This misfortune could now open the door for Valdes as he looks to get his club and international ambitions back on track after his own long-term injury concerns.

The 33-year-old is one of the most decorated players employed in the Premier League, having won the World Cup and European Championships with Spain, as well as multiple La Liga titles with former club Barcelona.
The player's last season of true action was 2013-14, when Valdes played 26 times for the Blaugrana, according to WhoScored.com, before departing the Camp Nou.
United Want England's "Best Goalkeeping Prospect"
Van Gaal is tracking Sunderland prodigy Jordan Pickford as he looks to attain the youngster who is considered the best of his age in England.
The Daily Star Sunday (h/t Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star) writes the Old Trafford club have been monitoring the 21-year-old while on loan at Preston North End.

Hetherington says Tottenham Hotspur are also exploring the option of buying the talent, but the Black Cats will not give away their starlet without a fight.
Pickford is currently down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light, ranked below Costel Pantilimon and Vito Mannone, but with new manager Sam Allardyce now in charge, the complexion of the goalkeeper's future might change.
Pickford starred for England's under-21 side on Tuesday, providing a brilliant assist for a goal with quick thought and distribution, as highlighted by football commentator James Fielden:
United have a good reserve keeper in Sergio Romero—a player of international standing—but he is not in the same bracket as David de Gea.
However, he will surely not want to sit on the bench beyond this season if De Gea does decide to stick with the Red Devils for a long-term period.
Valdes will feel aggrieved he has been ousted by Van Gaal, with the two having close links back to their Barcelona days, but DDG's failed move to Real Madrid destroyed any chance of him getting a run in the first team, ultimately closing any opportunity of becoming United's No. 1.
