Overview
A botched chase from India and a superb final over from South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada meant that the first one-day international was edge-of-your seat stuff. Proceedings now move to Indore, a ground that has hosted just thee ODIs, with the last being in 2011. Hosting matches at grounds that have not had many matches recently mean that it’s hard to know what to expect from conditions.
But you always know what to expect from individual players and both Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers lived up to those expectations in the first ODI. Both scored centuries, making significant contributions to their team’s effort.
The hundred meant Sharma became India's top run getter for 2015, with 710 runs at an average of 59.16, with three centuries and three fifties to his name. It means there will be even greater expectations on Sharma heading into the second ODI.
For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada was crucial. With 11 runs to defend off the final over and MS Dhoni on strike, Rabada held his nerve and picked up two wickets as India crumbled under pressure. But that is in the past now and both teams have to start from scratch come Wednesday.
The bad news for India is they have lost one of their key bowlers. Ravi Aswhin was forced to leave the field during the first ODI and Harbhajan Singh has been called up as cover, although it was not immediately clear how long Ashwin will be out for, according to ESPN Cricinfo.

South Africa
Farhaan Behardien is slowly becoming a very useful lower-order player for South Africa and will provide crucial support if the top order flops.
