World Grand Prix of Darts 2015: Scores, Results, Updated Schedule After Thursday
Michael van Gerwen avoided becoming the latest big-name casualty at the Party Poker 2015 World Grand Prix Darts in Dublin. The Dutchman blew away Jamie Lewis in three straight sets to book his place in the semi-finals.
Robert Thornton, Mensur Suljovic and Mark Webster will join the world No. 1 to make up the final four.
Here are the scores and results from Thursday's quarter-finals:
| Date | Player | Score | Player |
| Thursday, October 8 | Ian White | 2-3 | Robert Thornton |
| Thursday, October 8 | Mark Webster | 3-2 | Jelle Klaasen |
| Thursday, October 8 | Vincent van der Voort | 1-3 | Mensur Suljovic |
| Thursday, October 8 | Michael van Gerwen | 3-0 | Jamie Lewis |
The semi-final schedule has now been set, with Van Gerwen's meeting with Webster the undoubted highlight, as noted by PDC Darts on Twitter:
Recap
Van Gerwen proved he was in no mood to follow the other big names who've already been dumped out at Dublin by blanking Jamie Lewis 3-0 to win the first set. The only blot on his copybook was 10 misses at doubles during the first leg.
A double four gave him the opening leg of the next set. Lewis hit tops to get back to win his first leg and move to 2-1 in the second.
But Van Gerwen won the next leg and continued his fine form to open the third set, according to Live Darts on Twitter:
Lewis provided some brief tension when he pushed the third set back to two apiece. But Van Gerwen hit 160 in the deciding leg to take the match:
Earlier, Thornton won the first set 3-1 against Ian White. Yet despite his fine start, White continued to hang around. He was eventually able to force a decider after drawing level at two sets each.
His fightback had been sparked by a 158 to even things at a set apiece:
"INCREDIBLE 158 check-out from @IanDiamondWhite to draw level at 1-1. Does he have the momentum now? #partypokerWGP

But it was Thornton playing the closer as he hit a 161 checkout from the oche to book his passage to the last four. While his win was hard-fought, the scoring stats showed how the Thorn had made it through, per PDC Darts:
After his spectacular double 16 forced the decider, White felt he'd done enough to earn momentum at the decisive time:
Vincent van der Voort's match with Suljovic was a real seesaw affair. The Dutchman took command early, courtesy of taking out 128 on bull to win the first set 3-1.
But costly mistakes soon hurt Van der Voort and let Suljovic back in. Up two legs in the second set, Van der Voort began missing crucial points at the board.
His initial gaffes let the 43-year-old Suljovic break throw:
Suljovic claimed three legs in a row. His opening maximum of the match preceded a double 14 to take the second set.
He was two sets to one in front after blanking the now-erratic Van der Voort in the third set. Now riding major momentum, Suljovic again broke throw:
He won his ninth leg in a row to advance to the semi-finals. A 170 checkout completed his emphatic turnaround.
Welshman Mark Webster staked himself into a two-set lead over Holland's Jelle Klaasen. Webster broke throw with a 108 checkout. He then hit 180 and double 10 to win the opening set without dropping a leg.
Webster then took down 72 to claim the second set. Klaasen followed by producing his own whitewash to claim the third set. His fightback continued as he claimed the fourth set with double 18 to ensure a decider.
But it was Webster who stayed calm when it mattered. He hit tops to take the fifth and the match:
Van Gerwen looks unstoppable in Dublin. No Gary Anderson, James Wade or Phil Taylor means the Dutchman's path has been cleared to secure yet another title.
