Jurgen Klopp Announcement Expected, Robbie Fowler Wants Liverpool Coaching Role
In the wake of reports that former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp will be announced as Liverpool's new boss on Friday, club legend Robbie Fowler has announced his desire to be a part of the new regime's coaching staff.
The Daily Mail's Dominic King, who noted the German "is expected to be unveiled" as Brendan Rodgers' replacement in a three-year deal, reports former striker Fowler as saying:
"I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested—when the new manager comes in I'd love to be on the backroom staff."

As King noted, the forward, who scored 183 goals in two spells at Anfield, is a fully qualified coach. The 40-year-old briefly coached at Milton Keynes Dons, was player-manager of Thai side Muangthong United and has also recently worked with the Reds' academy players.

Per King's report, Klopp is "expected to bring his long-term assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz" to Merseyside should he join the club, but with no word yet on the futures of the current backroom staff there could be room for Fowler to join.
As the Times' Tony Barrett opines, having a former legend who knows the club inside and out, the area and the players could well be of benefit to Klopp, for whom the job would be his first outside of Germany:
Liverpool supporters would undoubtedly welcome their hero back to Anfield with the club now lacking some of its local identity following the departure of Steven Gerrard.
Indeed, the Reds notably failed to field a single locally born player in the Merseyside derby with Everton on Sunday for the first time in 29 years.
The ever-popular Klopp is unlikely to need it, but hiring Fowler on his arrival would therefore doubly serve as an easy way to generate even more positivity around what's sure to be an already overwhelmingly optimistic atmosphere around the club.
What's more, the presence of a striker of Fowler's quality can only benefit the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke, who will be key to Liverpool's chances of challenging for a Champions League place this season.
