18 Most Ridiculously Impressive Active Streaks in Sports

Laura DeptaOct 9, 2015

The Detroit Red Wings have made the playoffs in 24 consecutive seasons, and counting. Is there an active streak in American sports more impressive than that?

Probably not, but there are some good ones going out there. Eli Manning has started 171 consecutive games, Terry Francona has managed teams to above .500 records 11 straight times and Aaron Rodgers hasn't thrown a pick at home in 19 games.

Of course, streaks come and go pretty quickly (RIP Antonio Brown's 5/50 and Henrik Lundqvist's Game 7s), so make note, the following 18 streaks are all active as of October 9.

Derrick Henry, 10 Games with a TD

1 of 18

Alabama running back Derrick Henry ran for 148 yards and a touchdown in the Tide's victory over Georgia. In addition to helping his team to a W, Henry also extended his FBS-long active streak of 10 games with a TD, according to ESPN.

Carolina Panthers, 8 Wins, 15 100-Yard Rushing Games

2 of 18

For a team that went 7-8 last season, the Carolina Panthers are off to a strong start. Cam Newton and crew are 4-0 and have won eight straight games, dating back to 2014. According to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers have also posted 100 or more rush yards in 15 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NFL.

Leonard Fournette, 3 Straight 200-Yard Games

3 of 18

Three straight games of any one thing doesn't sound wildly impressive, but consider two things. One, "the thing" is 200 rush yards, and two, the architect is LSU running back Leonard Fournette.

Watching that man run is nothing short of mesmerizing. He's also the first player in SEC history to run for 200-plus yards in three straight games, according to ESPN.com.

With that performance, Chubb also tied Herschel Walker's school record of 13 straight 100-yard games, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald
