Recap

World No. 1 Van Gerwen started off in poor fashion against Belgium's Huybrechts. The Dutchman won the opening leg but was broken twice as his opponent scored heavily to go one set up.
Four missed doubles from Huybrechts allowed Van Gerwen to nip in and take the opening leg of the second set, and he grasped the momentum from there.
Van Gerwen hit a 180 when it mattered most at 2-2 and claimed the second set to level things up in Dublin.
A fantastic 160 checkout from Van Gerwen was the highlight of a third set taken with ease by the defending Grand Prix champion, and a 3-0 victory in the fourth set sealed the last-eight spot.
After a slow start, it was convincing in the end for Van Gerwen, and he outlined his sole aim for the tournament after the clash, per Live Darts:
An under-the-weather Lewis was taken out with remarkable ease by Welshman Webster for the biggest shock of Tuesday's action.
The 2011 and 2012 world champion could just not find the scoring to trouble his opponent, and Webster paired consistent throwing with excellent finishing.
Lewis did not have a finishing opportunity in the first set as Webster eased to a 3-0 victory. And he only managed two legs in the entire match, which the 32-year-old completely controlled.
Sky Sports Darts pithily summed up the one-sided encounter:
Jelle Klaasen's place in the quarter-finals was sealed after a titanic battle against Dave Chisnall. The Englishman claimed the opening set in a decider before Klaasen tied things up thanks in part to a 75 checkout in the third leg.
High scoring from the Dutchman—including 134 and 132 finishes—saw Klaasen into a 2-1 lead, but Chisnall was not letting his opponent go and forced a decider with some impressive finishing.
After cagey early exchanges in the fifth and final set, Klaasen drew away thanks to a string of 180s, and he eventually claimed a deserved and impressive victory, per PDC Darts:
The first game of the night was a similarly enthralling five-setter between Michael Smith and Jamie Lewis.
Smith started at an electric pace and took the opening two sets in no time.
However, Wales' Lewis would not be beaten easily, and he drew level to force a decider with a 95 finish to take the third set followed by efficient finishing in the fourth.
The momentum was all with Lewis, and he proved to have the required temperament as he took advantage of a string of missed doubles from Smith to take his spot in the last eight.
