Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Jurgen Klopp Rumours
It is widely believed that Jurgen Klopp is very interested in becoming the new Liverpool manager, but he will not look to bring many of his former Borussia Dortmund players with him, according to German football expert Archie Rhind-Tutt.
The BT Sport Bundesliga reporter told David Prentice of the Liverpool Echo (h/t Jack Wilson of the Daily Star) English football will "fit" the charismatic German coach, but he would rebuild Liverpool from the foundations upwards:
"He [Klopp] does have his favourites, players like Neven Subotic, but he’s a little over the hill now. I would be very surprised if he went back to Dortmund for some of their players. He is a progressive coach and I think he could work with what he has. He arrived at Borussia Dortmund when expectations were very low and the club had almost gone bankrupt and he was responsible for turning them into a team watched by 80,000 every week.
That gave him the time and breathing space to develop players like Mats Hummels, Mario Goetze and Robert Lewandowski – for me currently the best striker in Europe. He is revered in Dortmund and there’s a certain irony that after six really good years and becoming the longest serving manager Dortmund had ever had, the one not so good year he had did for him.

Liverpool's predicament mirrors the issues BVB once had, but the task at Anfield is arguably much harder, with the weight of history sure to constrict any new boss of the team. But Klopp's experiences at the Westfalenstadion will make him an attractive prospect for owners FSG, as they search for a world-class coaching talent.
But Bleacher Report's Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes Klopp would prefer to wait for the Bayern Munich job to become available, even though he is discussing plans with the Liverpool ownership:

Tom Olver of Metro reported Liverpool fans are urging Klopp to bring Reus and Hummels with him to Merseyside, as the fanbase expects a better class of footballer to arrive.
The Express' Bruce Archer said in September that German international Reus intends to remain one more season at Dortmund, with Manchester United and Real Madrid monitoring the player's situation as it develops.
Hummels could also be looking for a new challenge after severely criticising his team-mates in public following a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, with Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke unhappy at the player's stance, as reported by Sport1 (h/t Mark Rodden of ESPN FC): "I think it's very important—and I hope Mats does too—that we should review these things internally. That's what we'll do. What I have to say to Mats, I'll say to him in private. We definitely have to talk."

Despite Reus and Hummels' precarious positions, it would be difficult for Klopp to attract either player to Liverpool at the moment. The top clubs in Europe will all be queueing up for both players' signatures, leaving the Reds much further down the pack in the pecking order.
However, the key is to get Klopp first, and hand him the keys to the building; Liverpool need to bring in a coach who will inspire the crop of players, and get them challenging in the Premier League.
Despite Rodgers' exit, Liverpool sit just six points from the top of the Premier League table, giving Klopp a great place to start his revolution from.
The Reds have a solid squad—if not a spectacular one—but there is enough talent within the ranks for the German to work with until the January transfer window bursts open.
