Premier Boxing Champions 2015: Jackson vs. Uzcategui Fight Card, TV Schedule
Julius "The Chef" Jackson (19-0, 15 KO) will stake his undefeated professional record on Tuesday night against Jose Uzcategui (23-1, 19 KO) in the main event at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio.
Jackson—who is the son of former world champion Julian "The Hawk" Jackson and the brother of fellow 2008 Olympian John Jackson—will likely be hungry to obtain another knockout victory.
Uzcategui has never been stopped in his career, but he's also never faced a puncher with the power Jackson possesses. Here's how you can watch.
When: Tuesday, October 6 at 9 p.m. ET
Where: Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio
TV: Fox Sports 1
The 168-pound division could get interesting soon, as ESPN.com's Dan Rafael reports that longtime super middleweight champion Andre Ward is done with the weight class. That will create an opening for a potential pay-per-view star, and Jackson's style might be best suited to fill the gap.
Jackson is a heavy-handed 28-year-old who is always in search of the finish. Securing that type of win against a rugged fighter such as Uzcategui would make a statement. Jackson clearly has his sights set high, per this quote from Premier Boxing Champions: “With my father being who he is, my dream has always been to reach this level and surpass this level. I’m working extremely hard for this opportunity, and I’m ready for my shot.”
Uzcategui has been in the ring with one fighter whose name may resonate with most American fight fans—Matt Korobov, who beat Uzcategui in June 2014. This fight represents a second chance for him to make a big impression on the American crowd.
In Jackson's last fight, he stopped Jonathan Nelson in the ninth round. It was his ninth straight KO win. Nelson is not top-10 contender, but he looks like a world champion when compared to Uzcategui's recent opposition.
To put it plainly, Uzcategui was given a cookie in his last fight. He stopped Daniel Eduardo Yocupicio in the first round of a bout that was scheduled for six. Yocupicio's record was a modest 6-28 heading into the bout, so it would appear Uzcategui could stand to be tested.

In the co-featured bout, two former world champions in Miguel Vazquez (35-4, 13 KO) and Argenis Mendez (22-3-1, 12 KO) will square off. You might be wondering why a fight like this isn't the main event. While he is an effective fighter, Vazquez fights a style that is not pleasing to fans. When he was the 135-pound champion, his fights were arguably the toughest to sell among all of the legitimate world champions.

Mendez is a slick boxer who is probably more athletic than his opponent and capable of putting on an exciting fight. However, like Vazquez, he lacks power. With a total of 25 knockouts between the two fighters, a TKO isn't likely.
Hopefully, this bout—which looks purely tactical from a distance—will offer fans a few unexpected thrills.
