Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Grzegorz Krychowiak and Mathieu Debuchy Rumours
Arsenal's attempt to capture Polish defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak has been derailed, as Sevilla look to keep the highly rated player by offering him an improved deal.
Football website Fichajes.net (h/t George Bellshaw of Metro) say the La Liga outfit want to tie down the destroyer to the club with a fresh offer, also increasing his current release clause to deter possible suitors.
Bellshaw says the player's current buyout is estimated to be £22.3 million, but the struggling Spanish team want to convince the Poland international his future lies in Andalusia, and not in north London.

Krychowiak rose to prominence at French club Reims, transferring to Los Rojiblancos in 2014. The midfielder had an excellent campaign last term, placing him on the radar of Europe's biggest clubs.
The Pole made 44 starts in La Liga and Europe for the Sevilla club last term, per WhoScored.com, scoring twice. His defensive attributes have made his skills a much sought-after commodity, and his place in the Arsenal first team would be all but guaranteed.

Alistair Tweedale of the Telegraph recently talked up the qualities of the player, highlighting the points that make him such a desirable target for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger:
"Krychowiak is the main ball-winner in Unai Emery’s Sevilla team, with his 82 tackles won the third highest tally of any player in the Spanish top flight last season, winning the ball at an impressive 77 per cent success rate.
He has a fantastic reading of the game, making 97 interceptions in his 32 appearances. He is also a force in the air, winning 109 aerial duels at a success rate of 73 per cent – a higher rate than any other player to compete in at least 60 aerial battles.
"
Tweedale says the player is a stronger candidate to marshal Arsenal's defence than Francis Coquelin, and his last year of action proves this point.
However, Sevilla are well aware that another good year will see the midfielder's value rocket, making the signing of a new contract essential to their interests.
Debuchy Might Leave In January

Mathieu Debuchy's short stay at Arsenal could be about to come to a premature end, with the defender prepared to walk away from the club in January.
Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph reports the 30-year-old—who signed from Newcastle United in a £12 million deal in 2014—is considering leaving in the next transfer window after losing his starting berth to brilliant youngster Hector Bellerin.
Debuchy was forced to have ankle and shoulder surgery last year, and the resulting spell on the sidelines allowed Bellerin to stake his claim at right-back.
The Frenchman has now lost his place in the national starting XI and has only played 11 Premier League games since his move from St James Park, per WhoScored.

Debuchy admitted his frustration at Arsenal in September to L’Equipe (h/t Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph) and said he presumed he would be first choice once returning from injury:
"It is difficult. Even if I had not played a lot last season, in my head I would return to start after my recovery. But, at the Community Shield against Chelsea, Wenger chose him, Bellerin.
It was a surprise and a disappointment. Let’s say it [leaving] crossed my mind. But I want to be at Arsenal and to take my place.
"
It seems the end is near for the former Magpies player, with a combination of bad luck and young talent ruining his outlook. Bellerin is an exceptional talent who burst on the scene last year, and despite his Barcelona roots, many were shocked at the maturity of his game.
Debuchy will only be a substitute from here on or rotated into the starting line-up when the 20-year-old Spaniard needs a rest.
The situation will not be acceptable to the full-back as he looks to win his place back for France, triggering a move away when the transfer window opens in three months.
