A Healthy Allen Is Key to Successful Colts Offense
Since playing all 16 games as a rookie in 2012, Allen has been susceptible to injuries and has regularly missed time. The former third-round pick missed 15 games in 2013 because of a hip problem and missed three games in 2014 with a sprained ankle.
The former Clemson star missed three more games last season—two because of an ankle injury suffered in Week 2 against the New York Jets.
Josh Wilson of Stampede Blue tweeted out an alarming trend for Allen based on Pro Football Focus' grading metrics:
The Colts don't have the same depth at tight end this year after Coby Fleener signed with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent.
Injuries destroyed the Colts' playoff chances last year, but as long as they can keep Andrew Luck healthy, they will be competitive.
Allen has the talent to be an impact weapon after recording eight touchdown catches in 2014. His health will be a key focal point for the Colts this season now that he's back in the lineup.
