Jerry Jones Will Attend Cowboys vs. Giants After Undergoing Hip Surgery

Matt FitzgeraldSep 10, 2015

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones underwent his second hip-replacement operation in approximately six weeks last Friday but will still attend the team's season opener Sunday against the New York Giants.

ESPN.com's Todd Archer reported the news Thursday, indicating Jones has been having hip problems and needed a golf cart to get around during training camp. Jones had surgery on his right hip last week after an operation on his left hip in July.

"He's doing great and looking forward to being at the game on Sunday," Cowboys senior vice president of public relations Rich Dalrymple said regarding Jones.

Dallas is coming off its first NFC East Division title since 2009, riding an explosive offense and improved defense to the divisional round of the playoffs. The matchup with division rival New York is always intense and will set the tone for both the Cowboys and Giants to begin the 2015 campaign.

ESPN's Ed Werder highlighted how well Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo fared last year against the Giants:

Hosting the game at AT&T Stadium should help Dallas' cause, but New York is a dangerous underdog.

Giants signal-caller Eli Manning threw for six touchdowns and only one interception with a 114.3 passer rating in two games against America's Team in 2014. And this year, Romo won't be complemented by reigning NFL rushing champion DeMarco Murray, who fled to the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent in the offseason.
