New WWE Backstage Rumors on Lil Yachty as Fans Rip Triple H over Debut Match vs. Baron Corbin

Ahead of his WWE debut match against Baron Corbin on Sunday Night's Main Event on Sept. 6, rapper Lil Yachty has reportedly impressed with his work ethic.

According to False Finish, Yachty has "earned the respect of many within the company and industry" for taking his role in WWE seriously and dedicating himself to it.

False Finish added that Yachty has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, in preparation for his match against Corbin, and the plan is for him to remain on WWE programming "for the foreseeable future."

Many wrestling fans haven't been quite so accepting of Yachty's presence on WWE TV or his upcoming match, as Triple H's post on X about Yachty vs. Corbin was met with a deluge of negative comments:

Despite that, WWE is moving forward with it, and the match figures to be a central part of the rivalry between Corbin and Trick Williams.

Williams dropped the United States Championship to Corbin at SummerSlam after getting distracted by Corbin putting Yachty through a table.

Trick has been trying to get a rematch since then, and during a segment on Friday night's episode of SmackDown, Yachty got some licks in on Corbin with his "Trick Stick" kendo stick.

A furious Corbin agreed to give Williams a U.S. title opportunity, but it came with a major condition.

Corbin first stipulated that he would get to face Yachty at Sunday Night's Main Event. If Yachty can last five minutes without losing, then Trick will get his rematch, but if Corbin wins within five minutes, then Williams won't get another title shot.

The match will take place in Yachty's hometown of Atlanta, which suggests he may have a lot more fan support than he might have in a different location.

Many celebrities have had matches over the years and earned the respect of fans who went into it with skepticism. Yachty will have a chance to do that as well at Sunday Night's Main Event, but it sounds like he is already respected by those behind the scenes in WWE.
