UFC's Dana White Reacts to Conor McGregor Injury Conspiracy Theory, Potential Retirement on Video
UFC president Dana White spoke for a lot of fans when he discussed the anticlimactic main event of UFC 329 on Saturday night.
The fight ended when Conor McGregor suffered what White described as a likely "blown ACL." He told reporters he "was expecting at least a one-round war" between McGregor and Max Holloway.

White also disputed the idea McGregor already had a leg injury before the bout began. He argued somebody would've noticed if the former featherweight and lightweight champion was limping or favoring his leg during the weigh-in:
White had elaborated on that line of thinking earlier in the press conference.
"If anybody saw anything that could've possibly made him look weak or injured leading up to this fight, what did the f--king faceoff do — 44 million in 24 hours. More? More than 44 million views. Somebody would've seen something. If somebody saw something, they didn't say it, which is impossible. Nobody would do that."
"The day of the press conference, he came running out of the back and ran right up to him and stopped abruptly and squared up with them," he said, beginning at the 4:20 mark. "They were pushing foreheads. I didn't see that. The doctors check them out before the fight, and he looked damn good at the press conference, and he looked fine at the weigh-ins.
Addressing the possibility of McGregor's return, White was noncommittal.
"It's the guys that start saying, 'I've been thinking about retiring,'" he said starting at the 10:42 mark. "The minute you start talking or thinking about retiring, you absolutely positively should. I haven't heard that from [McGregor] yet, but he hasn't spoke publicly yet. We'll see what he has to say."
White didn't close the door on having McGregor fight again but didn't say it's absolutely happening, either. He said "there's a lot of unanswered questions right now."
McGregor, for his part, signaled he wants to compete, having set April 2027 as a target date earlier this summer:
The decision may be taken out of his hands, though, at least as it relates to another UFC comeback.
If McGregor's injury is as bad as it looked, he could be looking at an entire year on the shelf. That's on top of a five-year hiatus from the UFC.
In addition, his last two appearances ended when he was hurt in the first round, and he has one win since 2016. The 37-year-old remains one of the promotion's biggest stars, but that's increasingly in name only.
This is all a moot point for now because of McGregor's injury. Once his recovery is complete, White and his fellow UFC officials could face a serious dilemma.
