New Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Reveal Rams' Wish List, Injury Update and What Raiders Star Told Teams

Veteran edge-rusher Maxx Crosby was determined to remain with the Las Vegas Raiders after his trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell through, according to Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network.

Rapoport reported Sunday the Los Angeles Rams made an effort to land Crosby as he was their "internal wish" before the Myles Garrett trade and "were the strongest club pushing for a deal."

"But before there could be anything official, Crosby let it be known to anyone interested that he did not want to be traded," per the report. "He wanted to remain with the Raiders, and he let his own organization know as well."

Rapoport, citing sources, also reported that Crosby has "had no issues and is said to be in excellent health."

The Rams obviously pivoted to two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, who's two years older than Crosby but has a better track record on the field.

Los Angeles' affinity for Crosby goes back years.

The MMQB's Albert Breer reported general manager Les Snead attempted to bolster the defense ahead of the 2022 trade deadline. He pursued Crosby, Garrett and Brian Burns to no avail.

Some assumed the Raiders star was ready for a change of scenery this offseason based on how last year concluded. Las Vegas went 3-14, and Crosby was frustrated to be ruled out for Week 18.

The five-time Pro Bowler nonetheless asserted on his podcast (via ESPN's Ryan McFadden) that he was "where I'm supposed to be" after the Ravens backed out of their trade.

The franchise's investment in the roster probably eased any concerns he had about its overall direction as well. Las Vegas committed by far the most guaranteed money ($235.5 million) in free agency and selected Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick.

The Raiders are probably still another year away from contending, but there's at least a clear plan for the future.
