Jacksonville Jaguars: New Additions Are Ready to Revitalize the Offensive Line
Between the 2015 NFL draft and free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked up three stellar options on the offensive line: Stefen Wisniewski, Jermey Parnell and A.J. Cann. Now, it appears that they are ready to take on starting jobs in their first season in Jacksonville.
For Wisniewski and Parnell, it is simply a change of pace from the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, respectively. For rookie Cann, it is the first shot at the NFL. As the offseason has progressed, all three have found their places on the team, and that appears to be as starters.
While Wiz and Cann still have a bit of work to do to completely wrap up their places on the team, Parnell came onto the squad and immediately had a starting role. The free-agent signing found little resistance when arriving; in fact, the team almost moved around him.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈

The first-choice right tackle for the Jaguars in 2014 was Austin Pasztor, and while Pasztor could hold his own, he wasn't the ideal starter. With various tackles available in free agency, it seemed apparent that they would pick one up.
To some, the signing of Parnell was a risk—maybe a mystery. Parnell backed up Doug Free and Tyron Smith on the Cowboys for years, and although he stepped in for Free in 2014 and did an incredible job, he wasn't the most well-known option.
Plus, Parnell's limited starting experience remained a concern. The Jaguars were convinced enough by his 2014 performance and smartly pulled the trigger, as I suggested they should back in January in my first Bleacher Report article.
And going off the quiet nature from Jaguars.com and encouraging tweets from training-camp attendees and fellow Jaguars media members Mike Kaye and Michael DiRocco, it seems like Parnell hasn't disappointed:
While Parnell may not have competition, Wiz and Cann are in the midst of intense positional battles. For Wiz, it's a battle at center with sophomore Luke Bowanko, and for Cann, it's a battle at left guard with 2012 Pro Bowler Zane Beadles.
Beadles and Bowanko were the favorites early in the offseason. Beadles seemed to be working hard to put a rough 2014 season behind him, and Bowanko seemed deserving of the job thanks to his impressive rookie season.
However, both were unable to wrap up the starting jobs before the preseason started. While neither has necessarily disappointed in training camp or the offseason, the momentum isn't in Beadles' or Bowanko's favor, either.
As mentioned, Beadles disappointed on the field in 2014, and for a guy who made $7.5 million last year, it could be considered an atrocious performance. Cann doesn't make that kind of money, and he's more experienced than your average rookie.
A four-year starter at South Carolina, Cann is about as polished and proven as it gets for a rookie. Plus, even if Beadles does end up earning the starting nod to start the season, it wouldn't be surprising to watch Cann eventually earn a starting chance later in the year.
(It also doesn't help that one of the most popular moments of training camp has been Beadles getting blown up by sixth-round draft pick Mike Bennett. Watch Mike Kaye's Vine below.)
Bowanko and Wisniewski's battle will see a victor arise soon, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com. The Jaguars are expecting a winner by the third preseason game, and the players' performances in the first two preseason games will likely decide the battle.
Bowanko doesn't deserve to lose the starting job, but Wiz offers experience and familiarity with the offense from working with new offensive coordinator Greg Olson in Oakland.
A wave of new talent seems to be taking over the Jaguars offensive line, and that's a positive. There's competition, potential for growth and, at the least, proper depth on the offensive line.
All three of these players are ready to help the Jaguars offense reach the next level. An offense is only as good as its linemen, and the Jaguars can be proud to say they've improved with their new additions.
What do you think? Do all three become the starters? Or is it just Parnell? Answer the poll and comment below!
