Sanders underwent bladder removal and reconstructionย surgeryย last year following a bladder cancer diagnosis, eventually announcing that he was cancer-free in July 2025.
The 58-year-old also underwent surgery to treat blood clots three months later before undergoing another procedure related to his blood clots in March.
Sanders is entering his fourth season patrolling the sidelines for the Buffaloes, owning a 16-21 overall record. Colorado is looking to bounce back from a 3-9 finish in 2025.
As the Buffaloes attempt to contend in the Big 12 once again, their head coach doesn't seem to be limited by any health issues.
