Philadelphia-Area Family Builds Backyard 'Sky Deck' Overlooking Course to Watch PGA Championship
One Pennsylvania family with a house bordering Aronimink Golf Club is getting a unique view of the 2026 PGA Championship from their own backyard.
The family built a raised viewing platform on their property alongside the first-hole fairway from which they can view the tournament, CBS Philadelphia's Ross DiMattei reported.
The PGA Championship is taking place from Thursday to Sunday in the Philadelphia suburb of Newtown Square.
The house is owned by Sean Bellew, who told DiMattei he started planning the building of the platform when his family moved into the house five years ago.
"We have a great view because we can hear the tee shots, and we can see them playing, and then we see their approach shot, and then we see them putt out. You get to stand still and watch the whole field come past us," Bellew told DiMattei.
Bellew also told DiMattei that other neighbors with houses along the golf courses have come up with similar ways to view the competition.
The family plans to host more than 1,000 people as the tournament takes place this weekend, DiMattei reported.
Scottie Scheffler tied for the lead heading into Friday at 3-under, while reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy tumbled down the leaderboard after shooting 4-over par in his opening round.
