Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte reportedly met with multiple members of the team's staff following his recent absence.

According to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert, Marte met Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen and manager Torey Lovullo as well as his own agent for a conversation that was described by Hazen as "productive."

Marte is expected to return to the team following a stint on the injured list, per Gilbert.

The Diamondbacks placed the three-time All-Star on the restricted list after he didn't show up for a road game against the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic later reported that Marte returned to Arizona to have an MRI on his knee.

The Diamondbacks eventuallyย reinstatedย Marte from the restricted list and placed him on the 10-day injured list due to left knee inflammation.

On Tuesday, Lovullo said that he was hopeful Marte would be able to play again this season.

"We need him," Lovullo said, per the Associated Press (h/tย ESPN). "He's one of the best players in the National League as far as I'm concerned."

Marte has appeared in 118 games for the Diamondbacks this year, hitting .249 with 21 home runs and 23 doubles to go along with 67 RBI. He also owns a .760 OPS.

Arizona holds the No. 3 position in the National League West standings with a 67-61 record this year, although the team is just one game back from the final NL Wild Card spot.
