Liv Morgan Beats Stephanie Vaquer for Women's World Title at WWE WrestleMania 42
Liv Morgan defeated Stephanie Vaquer on Night 1 of WWE WrestleMania 42 on Saturday to win the Women's World Championship for the third time in her career.
Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez appeared and distracted Vaquer, who hit a crossbody from the ring down below. Morgan used the opportunity to throw Vaquer into the steel steps and then into the ring. She hit a Codebreaker and then an Oblivion (for the second time in the match) to earn the win.
Morgan celebrated afterward with Perez, Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio.
After several close calls in the past, Morgan finally won the women's Royal Rumble in January, earning her the right to challenge either Vaquer for the Women's World Championship or Jade Cargill for the WWE Women's Championship.
Morgan took her time before making a decision, as she addressed both Vaquer and Cargill in separate segments on Raw and SmackDown, respectively.
However, given the instant heat between Liv and Vaquer, it always seemed most likely that she would go after La Primera and the women's world title.
Prior to Morgan winning the Rumble, Vaquer had been embroiled in a rivalry with Liv's Judgment Day stablemate, Raquel Rodriguez, so Morgan challenging the Chilean was a natural progression.
Shortly after her Rumble triumph, Morgan taunted Vaquer during an in-ring segment, which prompted La Primera to slap Dominik Mysterio.
Vaquer subsequently interrupted a sit-down interview segment between Morgan and Michael Cole, verbally berating Liv until she broke down in tears.
That was enough to convince Morgan to officially choose Vaquer as her WrestleMania opponent, and it set the wheels in motion for Liv's masterplan to get under Stephanie's skin.
Morgan took every opportunity to criticize and taunt Vaquer, including poking fun at the trials and tribulations she had to go through in order to reach WWE.
Vaquer had a chance to get revenge at WrestleMania, but it was Morgan who got the last laugh by becoming women's world champion yet again.
