Team USA skier Lindsey Vonn says she is back in the United States, but hasn't yet stood on her feet, after a week of hospitalization in Italy following her crash in the alpine skiing women's downhill final on Feb. 8.

Vonn wrote Tuesday on X that she has "been in a hospital bed immobile since my race."

"Although I'm not yet able to stand, being back on home soil feels amazing," Vonn wrote.

Vonn, 41, was racing in the women's downhill just nine days after suffering a torn left ACL during a training run in Switzerland.

She ultimately made it just 13.4 seconds into the race before breaking her left leg in a collision with a gate.

Vonn was ultimately airlifted off the course with what she later identified as a complex tibia fracture that would necessitate multiple surgeries.

She has since undergone four procedures on her injured leg and has said she will need at least two more after returning to the United States.

Vonn first announced her return to her home country in a Monday Instagram post that showed her getting muscles stretched while still in her hospital bed.

She wrote in the caption that she was "slowly coming back to life, back to basics and the simple things in life that mean the most."

Vonn, who initially announced her retirement from competitive skiing in 2019 due to injuries, came back from knee replacement surgery in December 2024.

She made history as the oldest World Cup downhill winner in December on her way to qualifying for the 2026 United States Olympic team.
