Who Has No. 1 CFB Recruiting Class After National Signing Day? Latest 2026 Rankings
While the regular national signing period doesn't mean quite as much to the college football world as it once did, we did see some noteworthy developments on Wednesday's national signing day.
Yes, the vast majority of top 2026 recruits have been committed since before the early signing period in December, while very few committed recruits were unsigned heading into Wednesday. It's also true that most major programs are now busy trying to lock up recruits from the 2027 cycle.
However, Wednesday wasn't entirely without drama, and we now have a better idea of who the biggest winners of the 2026 cycle are. Who has the top recruiting class with national signing day complete? Let's take a look.
Wednesday's Biggest Developments
1 of 3
Of the top 250 recruits on 247Sports' composite rankings, only one was uncommitted heading into Wednesday. That was 4-star defensive lineman Dylan Beerymon of Ouachita Parish High School (Monroe, LA), a prospect that Gabe Brooks of 247Sports called a "Bona fide SEC-style interior D-line body who flashes impressive athleticism and speed-to-power abilities.
Berymon, who had previously decommitted from Texas, announced that he'd be committing to Nebraska over Kentucky, his other finalist.
Fellow 4-star defensive lineman Anthony Jones of Crean Lutheran (Irvine, CA) was also uncommitted heading into Wednesday. Jones had joined and decommitted from UCLA twice before narrowing his choices to Wisconsin and Oregon.
According to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals and On3, Jones officially committed to the Ducks on Wednesday.
Oregon landed another recruit when it officially locked up 4-star running back Brandon Smith of Central East (Fresno, CA).
Smith, who was released from his commitment with Arizona in January, signed with the Ducks on Wednesday, according to Jackson Moore of 247Sports.
In a move that was anticipated, Notre Dame officially signed 2026 commit Teddy Jarrard, who had reclassed from the 2027 cycle.
The 4-star signal-caller from North Cobb (Kennesaw, GA) was still being pursued by Georgia and Indiana, according to 247Sports' Tom Loy. However, Jarrard made it pretty clear ahead of signing day that he wanted to join the Irish as soon as possible.
"I want to be on track with everyone else in the room as much as I can when I come in the summer," Jarrard said, per On3's Mike Singer.
Nebraska got a big addition on Wednesday, while Oregon and Notre Dame locked up top-five recruiting classes. However, the big winner of this year's cycle is still USC.

USC Lands Top Class
3 of 3
While USC hasn't gotten the desired results during its four seasons under coach Lincoln Riley, things could be on the upswing. Riley and his staff did an incredible job of securing top recruits from the 2026 cycle, putting together an incredibly impressive overall class.
USC's group includes three 5-star prospects and a whopping 17 4-stars.
The Trojans' class is headlined by 5-star edge Luke Wafle of Hun School (Princeton, NJ) and 5-star defensive lineman Jaimeon Winfield of Richardson (Richardson, TX).
Wafle is the sixth-ranked recruit on 247Sports' composite board and its No. 2 edge-rusher. Winfield is the 35th-ranked recruit and a prospect that Brooks called a "broad-bodied interior DL who makes the most of unblocked situations, but also creates impact plays through traffic."
Offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe of IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) rounds out USC's crop of 5-star recruits.
