On the heels of a historic Royal Rumble that saw Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan cash their tickets to WrestleMania 42 by way of their victories, WWE Raw hit the Netflix airwaves from Philadelphia with all of the fallout from the year's first premium live event.

What went down when The Tribal Chief addressed the WWE Universe and what did Morgan have to say about the biggest win of her career?

Find out with this recap of the February 2 broadcast, complete with grades and analysis from each of the night's major segments and matches.

Lineup

1 of 11
WWE Royal Rumble

  • Philadelphia Street Fight for the Women's World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez
  • Penta vs. Bronson Reed
  • Je'Von Evans vs. El Grande Americano
  • Roman Reigns appearance
  • Liv Morgan promo
  • Bron Breakker Takes Over Raw

    2 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Bron Breakker lost the Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

Two days after being attacked and eliminated in the Royal Rumble match, an irate Bron Breakker stalked the ringside area and threatened anyone in his path, leading to The Vision attempting to calm him down amid demands issued to Raw general manager Adam Pearce.

Paul Heyman blamed Pearce, too, which caused Breakker to call out the general manager again.

Pearce appeared, told Breakker he would allow him to keep his job despite a "piss poor performance" in the Royal Rumble, and LA Knight sneak attacked Logan Paul and Austin Theory with a steel chair. A dismayed Breakker asked Heyman, "what are we doing," in disbelief as the segment closed.

    Grade

    C+

    Biggest Takeaways

  • This was a quick, painless segment that wrapped up inside of five minutes and painted the picture of an increasingly frustrated Breakker, an antagonistic Pearce, and a Knight who is far from finishing exacting revenge from The Vision.
  • This could have been better served in the middle of the show, with one of the two Royal Rumble winners kicking off the show, since those are the competitors the wrestling world is buzzing about in the wake of Saturday's show.
  • Je'Von Evans vs. El Grande Americano

    3 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Je'Von Evans and El Grande Americano lost the Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

Nursing shoulder and rib injuries following an iron man performance in Saturday's Royal Rumble, Je'Von Evans squared off with El Grande Americano in a rematch of their previous match-up, which ended when Evans suffered an injury.

Americano targeted the obvious injury, slamming his opponent into the ring post entering the commercial break. The resilient young star fought through the pain and back into the match, delivering a coast-to-coast swanton kick to the head for two.

Bravo and Rayo attempted to interfere, but the Original El Grande Americano interrupted the match and provided a distraction that allowed Evans to deliver the OG Cutter for the win.

    Result

    Evans defeated Americano

    Grade

    C+

    Biggest Takeaways

  • The match itself did not necessarily live up to expectations, with Evans and Americano never really finding their in-ring chemistry. The commercial mid-match did not help, but, for all of the energy the babyface performs with, it lacked a truly electric comeback to elevate it.
  • The appearance from Chad Gable's Original El Grande Americano did not help, as the eager response for that character took away from Evans' win. With that said, a potential mask vs. mask match between the El Grande Americanos should be a ton of fun.

    Gunther Promo

    4 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Gunther defeated AJ Styles (Royal Rumble, January 31)

AJ Styles' theme music played and Gunther entered the arena, mocking the man he retired Saturday night in Riyadh. With fans raining down on him with a chorus of boos, drowning out his initial attempts at a promo, The Ring General basked in the disdain of the WWE Universe.

When he finally did start speaking, Dragon Lee rushed the ring and took the fight to the former world champion. A well-timed cheap shot turned the tide in the heel's favor and allowed him to put Lee to sleep. Twice.

    Grade

    B

    Biggest Takeaways

  • The heat was off the charts for Gunther. Not even Dak Prescott could have walked into Philly, insulted Styles, and been booed as loudly and passionately as The Ring General. He is, unequivocally, the best heel in WWE today.
  • Lee defending his former tag team partner's honor made sense and set him up to square off with the former world champion. A match or two with Gunther, in which he can show off his value as a singles star in a high-profile situation is exactly what the masked man needs to make the leap to the next level.
  • Oba Femi Wrecked The War Raiders

    5 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Oba Femi lost the Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31); War Raiders lost to Los Americanos (Main Event, January 8)

While Erik and Ivar of The War Raiders awaited their opponents for a tag team match, former NXT champion Oba Femi's music played and the main roster newcomer made his way to the ring.

The Ruler obliterated the former world tag team champions, leaving them lying and standing tall, a message sent loudly and clearly.

    Grade

    A

    Biggest Takeaways

  • Having Femi run through two big guys like Erik and Ivar was more impressive than having him tear smaller opposition down. He looked like a dominant force, a destructive badass fans can invest in and root for as he steamrolls the competition. The future is bright for the big man.
  • The Bella Twins Are Back

    6 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Brie and Nikki Bella lost the Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

One of the legitimate surprises in Saturday's Royal Rumble, Brie Bella joined her sister Nikki for a Bella Twins reunion.

The Hall of Famers staked their claim to the Women's Tag Team Championships, saying they are back and ready to target the gold as the original tag team in the women's division.

    Grade

    D

    Biggest Takeaways

  • The definition of a whole TV segment that could have been an email.
  • There was nothing to this, the promo was bad, there was next to no energy from either Brie or Nikki, and the result was a segment that fell extremely flat, despite the fans' excitement to see the Hall of Fame twins back together.
  • Penta vs. Bronson Reed

    7 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Penta and Bronson Reed lost the Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

With Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio indisposed due to injury, Penta went it alone as he battled "Big" Bronson Reed, who was accompanied to the squared circle by The Vision's Paul Heyman, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory.

Reed dominated the luchador, working him over with his size and strength advantage. He wore out the masked fan-favorite until Penta seized an opening and teed off on his opponent. His offense was short-lived as Reed cut him off and re-established dominance.

Reed delivered the Jagged Edge, then followed with the Tsunami, but there was no referee to count the pin after being knocked out via incidental contact with the heel. The big man grabbed hold of a chair but LA Knight appeared, delivered the BFT, and escaped through the crowd.

Penta won the match via count-out.

    Result

    Penta defeated Reed

    Grade

    C+

    Biggest Takeaways

  • Outside of improving his win-loss record, this did nothing to help Penta. He was a tackling dummy for Reed throughout and only won because of Knight's interference in the closing moments. For a guy who Heyman thought the world of on WWE Unreal, his creative is hit or miss on a seemingly weekly basis.
  • Knight as the constant threat in The Vision's side is fun, if nothing else. Whether it ever leads to anything of real substance for him remains to be seen but as a quick-hitting babyface who pops the crowd, it works.
  • Dirty Dom Returned and Liv Morgan Celebrated

    8 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano lost to Rey Fenix and Rey Mysterio (AAA Guerra de Titanes 2025); Liv Morgan won the Women's Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

WWE Intercontinental and AAA Mega champion Dominik Mysterio returned for the first time since suffering an injury in December and introduced the winner of the 2026 Women's Royal Rumble, Liv Morgan.

Morgan admitted that she is not sure who she will challenge at WrestleMania 42, but she is going to SmackDown on Friday night to "scope out her options."

From there, she claimed WWE would be crowning a new women's world champion tonight and introduced Raquel Rodriguez. "Big Sexy" called out Morgan for eliminating her in the Rumble match and told her to stay in the back for her match tonight so there are no questions about who the real women's world champion is.

    Grade

    A

    Biggest Takeaways

  • Mysterio's welcome return gives the show an instant boost. A future main eventer, he was routinely one of the best elements of the show in 2025 and there is no reason to believe that will change.
  • Morgan has such command of the mic and camera that, even when there is no real substance to what she is given to do, she elevates it. This was no different. She came across as completely disingenuous and insincere when she dodged Rodriguez's question and applauded Big Sexy for being unselfish. Great stuff.
  • Philadelphia Street Fight for the Women's World Title: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Raquel Rodriguez

    9 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

Last Time in Action: Stephanie Vaquer, Iyo Sky, and Rhea Ripley defeated The Judgment Day (Raw, January 26); Raquel Rodriguez lost the Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

The heated rivalry over the top prize in the Raw women's division wrote its latest chapter in a Philadelphia Street Fight Monday, when Raquel Rodriguez challenged Stephanie Vaquer.

Big Sexy struck first, driving La Primera through a table with a powerbomb to establish control entering the commercial break. Back from the timeout, Rodriguez wildly swung a steel chair at Vaquer but the champion ducked, then teed off on her challenger with a kendo stick.

Everything Vaquer attempted, though, Rodriguez cut off. Whether it was a sustained comeback or her famed Devil's Kiss, the challenger had an answer for it. That is, until the Chilean-born competitor weathered a slam on steel chairs and delivered consecutive Devil's Kisses, one on a steel chair, the other on the ring steps.

Frustration set in down the stretch, with both women expressing as much after pin attempts failed to net them the win and title. Liv Morgan, despite orders not to get involved, did just that and her interference backfired, nearly costing her friend the match.

Roxanne Perez interfered and found herself tumbling through a table at ringside. Rodriguez tried for a powerbomb through a table but Vaquer countered, delivering a hurricanrana that kinda, sorta sent her opponent through a different table. The corkscrew splash earned La Primera the victory.

    Result

    Vaquer defeated Rodriguez

    Grade

    B+

    Biggest Takeaways

    • Several thousand thumbs down for Vaquer's new theme music. It adversely affected her aura, the complete opposite of what you want that to do.
    • The match itself was really good. There was a spot or two that did not go off according to plan, but it was still a strong, physical match that put over the possibility that Rodriguez would win, shined a light on the dissension within The Judgment Day, and gave Vaquer a defining victory.
    • Where things between Morgan and Rodriguez go from here, and how Perez factors into it all, will go a long way in telling us what the plans for the former's WrestleMania title match look like.

    Roman Reigns Promo

    10 of 11
    WWE Royal Rumble

Last Time in Action: Roman Reigns won the 2026 Men's Royal Rumble (Royal Rumble, January 31)

Roman Reigns hit the ring to address his Royal Rumble and got a bit nostalgic along the way. He recalled that he won his first WWE Championship in the city, and lost his last one in the same place. When he won his first Rumble there, the fans did not sound nearly as complimentary to him as they did on this night.

From there, he turned his attention to WrestleMania and the champion he should challenge at the event, with CM Punk being the crowd's choice.

The world champion join Reigns in the ring, entering to a big pop.

Punk immediately addressed Finn Balor's earlier words via a taped promo. Reigns took exception, and the world champion claimed The Tribal Chief was visiting.

The two megastars took shots at each other, with increasingly personal edge. Punk reminded Reigns that he once ruled over WWE as champions for 434 days, with Paul Heyman by his side. "Just because you did it longer doesn't mean you did it better," he said.

Reigns, fired up, claimed he let Punk back in WWE when Triple H came to him two years ago, and still holds onto the anger and frustration he felt when the world champ made his life a living hell a decade earlier during a podcast appearance. His ego bruised, he chose Punk as his WrestleMania 42 opponent because he hates him, then stomped off to close out the segment and show.

    Grade

    A+

    Biggest Takeaways

  • This was Reigns' best promo since the "my camera, my show" contract signing leading into his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38. He fired up, probably got some stuff off of his chest, and put an emphatic exclamation point on the entire thing. More than the title, the main event of the biggest show of the year, or which brand he is representing, this is about sheer, unadulterated hatred.
  • Punk was equally as great here. He is such a big-time promo, who knows exactly how to sell a match, that we almost take for granted his greatness. He was antagonistic when he needed to be and it worked as he poked and prodded, verbally, enough to get Reigns to erupt.
  • If I'm McIntyre after this one, I'm pissed. If I'm Cody Rhodes and likely to work with McIntyre at WrestleMania, I'm also pissed. There were ways to get to what we got without tearing the undisputed WWE champion down in the process.
  • Overall Grade

    11 of 11
    Monday Night RAW

What was a very underwhelming show through the first 90 or so minutes became exponentially better with the arrival of the women's title match and the main event promo segment.

CM Punk and Roman Reigns immediately created interest and intrigue for the biggest match of the year, the real main event of WrestleMania 42, with their back-and-forth promo while Stephanie Vaquer and Raquel Rodriguez tore it up in the advertised main event of the night.

There were other things to like about the broadcast, but it felt like a half-hearted follow-up to a Royal Rumble premium live event that lacked the energy and excitement around it that fans have come to know and expect from the first extravaganza of the year.

Still, that closing segment alone was enough for a thumbs up.
