Latest Brendan Sorsby Rumors on LSU, Miami, Top CFB Transfer Portal Landing Spots
Multiple major programs are reportedly poised to make a run at University of Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby in the transfer portal.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Sorsby is widely viewed as the top quarterback in the portal currently, and LSU, Texas Tech and Miami are considering pursuing him:
Sorsby, 21, has spent four seasons at the collegiate level with Indiana and Cincinnati, one of which was a redshirt campaign.
After appearing in 10 games and making seven starts at Indiana in 2023, Sorsby transferred to Cincinnati and established himself as one of the top signal-callers in the Big 12.
In 2024, Sorsby completed 64.0 percent of his passes for 2,813 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while also rushing for 447 yards and nine scores.
He followed that up this season by completing 61.6 percent of his passing attempts for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and five picks to go along with 580 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.
In LSU, Texas Tech and Miami, Sorsby figures to have his choice between multiple teams that could be College Football Playoff and even national championship contenders.
LSU went a disappointing 7-6 this season, and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier performed well below expectations, but there is reason for optimism in 2026 because of the arrival of Lane Kiffin as the Tigers' new head coach.
Kiffin has long been viewed as an offensive guru, and he helped lead Ole Miss to a CFP berth this season.
Meanwhile, both Texas Tech and Miami were CFP teams for the first time in the respective histories of their programs this season.
The Red Raiders will need a replacement for Behren Morton, while the Hurricanes will attempt to find the successor for Carson Beck under center.
Miami shocked Ohio State in the quarterfinals of the CFP on Wednesday night, meaning the Hurricanes are just two wins away from their first national title since 2001.
The transfer portal for the 2026 college football season officially opens Friday, and it will run until Jan. 16.
